Divizia B
The Liga 2, most often spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company with the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Divisions Since its inception in 1934, Liga II had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. Generally, Seria I included eastern teams while Seria II included western sides, although clubs near the center of the country are allowed to choose in which series they will compete. The first six teams from each series participate in a play-off for potential promotion to Liga I. The teams placed from 7th to 12th will play a relegation play-off, where the last two teams are relegated to Liga III. AMEF Arad
Vagonul Arad was a football club based in Arad, Romania. It was founded in 1911 and it soon became one of the best teams from Arad. It was affiliated to Astra Arad rail equipment manufacturing company. It was dissolved in 2006. History 1911–1948 The club was formed in Arad in 1911 when ''AMEF'' ''(Asociația Muncitorilor pentru Educație Fizică)'' (Workers Association for Physical Education) merged with ''Clubul Sportiv Al Fabricii De Vagoane'' (Rail Cars Factory Sports Club), keeping the first ones name until 1948. After World War I it qualified for the national championship 3 times, but never being able to pass the semi-finals. During 1932-1940 we see the club playing in Liga I, their best performance - 2nd place at the end of the 1935-36 season. Franco-Româna Brăila
Franco-Româna Brăila (AS Brăilița) is a football team from Brăila, Romania. History Their best performance was reaching the Quarter-finals in Cupa României in 1935–36 season when they lost with 6–4 against Unirea Tricolor București. Franco-Româna Brăila second team was founded in 1940 and was called AS Brăilița. Brăilița was also the neighbourhood and name of the stadium. The stadium was like a small English stadium looking same with the famous Highbury, but in a smaller size. Even they won twice Divizia B they never promoted in Divizia A, because they could not manage to win the Promotion play-off. The biggest rival in their history was another local team Dacia Unirea Brăila. Franco-Româna Brăila was in the shadow of the rival team in all of their history. ILSA Timișoara (Industria Lânii Societate Anonimă Timișoara) (English: Society of Anonymous Wool Industry Timișoara) was a football team from Timișoara, Timiș County, Romania. History ILSA Timișoara was founded in 1922, with players and workers of the wool factory from Timișoara. (Industria Lânii = Wool Industry) They spend most of the time in Timișoara County League. Their best performance was to win Divizia B in 1936, the current Liga II. But they lost the Promotion / Relegation Play-off for next year of Divizia A against Universitatea Cluj with 5–1 on Aggregate. Asociația Sportivă CFR Brașov, commonly known as CFR Brașov, was a football club from Brașov, Romania. The club was founded in the year 1921 as CFR Brașov (Brașov Romanian Railway Association). They played in the first edition of 1933–34 Cupa României, beating Jiul Petroșani in the first round. They were eliminated in the second round after losing to UD Reșița. In the edition of 1934–35 Cupa României, they were eliminated in the first round by Ripensia Timișoara. Gymnastics Society Sibiu ( ro, Societatea de Gimnastică Sibiu, german: Hermannstädter Turnverein - HTV) was a German sport club based in Sibiu. At that time the city was part of Austria-Hungary and after part of Romania. History The Sibiu Gymnastics Club was founded on 30 October 1862 and aimed at youth education. With a decree of 1865, school gymnastics was a compulsory subject, so that the Gymnastics Society Sibiu initially functioned almost exclusively as an academic club from that date. Phoenix Baia Mare was a football club based in Baia Mare, Romania. It was founded in 1932 and dissolved in 2000. The club of the Chemical Factory from Baia Mare, was founded in 1932 and the first leaders were: Petru Wider (Chairman), Şt. Vadász (Sports Director) and Al. Cireşa (General Secretary).
