Divizia A
Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1 and officially known as SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Romania and the highest level of the Romanian football league system. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation from and to Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 Divizia A, 1909–10 campaign, being currently 25th in UEFA's UEFA coefficient#League coefficient, league coefficient ranking list. It is administered by the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, also known by the acronym LPF. Rudolf Bürger
Rudolf Bürger (31 October 1908 – 20 January 1980) was a Romanian international footballer and coach of German ethnicity. He is one of a few men who participated in each of the three pre-World War II FIFA World Cups. At club level, he played mostly for Ripensia Timișoara with whom he won several trophies. Club career Bürger was born on 31 October 1908 in Temesvár, Austria-Hungary (now Romania), growing up and starting to play football as a child in the Elisabetin neighborhood. In 1920 he started to play junior level football at local club, ESE. Afterwards he moved to CS Tricolor, then he went at ETC, arriving in 1924 at Chinezul Timișoara. In the 1926–27 season he played one league game for Chinezul as the team won the title. Vilmos Zombori
Vilmos Zombori (11 January 1906 – 17 January 1993) was a Romanian footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He was also known as William Zombory. Club career Vilmos Zombori was born on 11 January 1906 in Temesvár, Austria-Hungary (now Romania), growing up in a family in which he had eight brothers. He started to play junior level football in 1919 at Chinezul Timișoara, starting his senior career in 1925 in the regional league at Sparta CFR Timișoara. After one year he went back at Chinezul, being brought as a replacement for Adalbert Ritter, winning the 1926–27 title, being used by coaches Frontz Dőme and Jenő Konrád in 11 games. In 1930, Zombori went at Ripensia Timișoara, winning the 1932–33 title, being the first-choice goalkeeper, coach Konrád using him in 11 games in which he scored one goal, including playing in the final with Universitatea Cluj. Dumitru Pavlovici (26 April 1912 – 28 September 1993) was a Romanian football goalkeeper who played for Romania in the 1938 FIFA World Cup. Club career Dumitru Pavlovici, nicknamed ''Pantera neagră'' () was born on 26 April 1912 in Timișoara, Romania, growing up and starting to play football as a child in the Mehala neighborhood. He started playing organized football as a forward at local club, Dacia. He first played as a goalkeeper while he was still at Dacia in a game with AMEF. In 1933, Pavlovici went at Ripensia Timișoara where he had to compete to be first-choice goalkeeper with Vilmos Zombori who was six years older than him. In his first season spent at the club, he won the Cupa României but did not play in the final as Zombori was preferred. Gheorghe Ciolac (10 August 1908 – 13 April 1965) was a Romanian association football striker. He was a member of Romania's squad which competed at the 1934 FIFA World Cup, but did not play in any match. Club career Ciolac was born on 10 August 1908 in Nagykomlós, Austria-Hungary, starting to play junior level football in 1922 at Politehnica Timișoara. In 1924 he moved to neighboring club, Banatul with whom in the 1928–29 season he reached the semi-finals of the national league where they were defeated with 3–0 by România Cluj. Iuliu Bodola
Iuliu Bodola (; 26 February 1912 – 9 September 1992) was a Romanian-Hungarian footballer who played as a striker. He represented both the Romania and Hungary national team at internationally level. His nickname was ''Duduş''/''Dudus''. He is Romania's third all-time top goalscorer, and he is also the all-time top goal scorer of the Balkan Cup. Club career Bodola started his career in 1929 (aged 17) for Clubul Atletic Oradea, before joining Venus București, with whom he was the champion of Divizia A in 1938–39 and 1939–40. When Northern Transylvania became part of the Kingdom of Hungary in August 1940, he preferred to play for Nagyváradi AC, and with them he won the Nemzeti Bajnokság I in 1943–44. Vagonul Arad was a football club based in Arad, Romania. It was founded in 1911 and it soon became one of the best teams from Arad. It was affiliated to Astra Arad rail equipment manufacturing company. It was dissolved in 2006. History 1911–1948 The club was formed in Arad in 1911 when ''AMEF'' ''(Asociația Muncitorilor pentru Educație Fizică)'' () merged with ''Clubul Sportiv al Fabricii De Vagoane'' (Rail Cars Factory Sports Club), keeping the first ones name until 1948. After World War I it qualified for the national championship 3 times, but never being able to pass the semi-finals.
