Diving is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a platform or springboard, usually while performing acrobatics. Diving is an internationally recognized sport that is part of the Olympic Games. In addition, unstructured and non-competitive diving is a recreational pastime. Competitors possess many of the same characteristics as gymnasts and dancers, including strength, flexibility, kinaesthetic judgment and air awareness. Christina Loukas
Christina Loukas (born December 19, 1985) is an American diver. She competes in the 3 meter springboard event. Loukas is of Greek origin, and was born and grew up in Riverwoods, Illinois, where she studied gymnastics, swimming, and diving from an early age, before switching to diving exclusively at age twelve. She attended Deerfield High School in Deerfield, Illinois and competed in the off season with the Coho Swim Club. She later moved to Bloomington, Indiana and lives in The Woodlands, Texas. Collegiate career She attended Indiana University and dived for the Indiana Hoosiers, where she was an eight-time NCAA All-American. Loukas won all three diving events at the conference championships, and was one of only four Big Ten divers to accomplish that feat. She graduated in May 2009. Li Ting (; born April 1, 1987 in Lingui, Guilin, Guangxi) is a female diver from the People's Republic of China. She is a member of the Dong Chinese ethnic minority. Li started training in 1993 the second Chengguan primary school. She joined Guangxi Divers' School in 1994, and became a member of the provincial squad a year later. She was selected for the Chinese national squad in 1999. Partnered by her twin sister Li Rao (李嬈) in the 9th annual Chinese national championships, she obtained the bronze medal for synchronised diving from a 10m platform. She won a gold medal at the 2002 Asian Games, as well as Gold and bronze medals in the synchronised and individual high-diving events. Noemi Batki (born 12 October 1987) is a Hungarian-born Italian former diver. She was a member of the Italian National Diving Team at four Olympic Games and was a member of the sports section of the Italian Army, Centro Sportivo Esercito, and Triestina Nuoto. Career Batki was born in Budapest, Hungary. Her mother Ibolya Nagy was a Hungarian platform diver who took part in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. At the age of 3 Batki moved to Belluno, Italy. Illya Olehovych Kvasha ( uk, Ілля Олегович Кваша; born 5 March 1988) is a Ukrainian diver. Competing with Oleksiy Prygorov, he won the bronze medal in the 3 m spring synchro at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
