Piscina Municipal De Montjuïc
The Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc ( en, Montjuïc Municipal Pool) is a sports venue situated in the Olympic Ring in Barcelona. The venue consists of two swimming pools: a pool for diving and a 25m outdoor pool. It hosted the diving events and the water polo preliminaries for the 1992 Summer Olympics. The location of the venue on a slope of the Montjuïc hill gives a panoramic view of the city of Barcelona. The swimming pools are open to the public during the summer. History The venue, that used to consist of a single 50m pool, was opened in 1929 and refurbished to host the swimming events for the 1955 Mediterranean Games. In 1990, refurbishment works began for the 1992 Olympics: the two current pools were built and temporary grandstands were installed, boosting the capacity to 6,500 spectators. Gao Min (diver)
Gao Min (; born September 28, 1970, in Zigong, Sichuan) is a female Chinese diver who won gold medals in the springboard event of the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games. Diving career Gao learned how to swim at the age of four. At nine, she started gymnastics training, before she was spotted by a diving coach and persuaded to switch to compete in diving. She won her first major international competition - on the 3-meter springboard - in the World Championships in 1986. Nicknamed the "Diving Queen", Gao is one of the most dominant divers in the history of the sport. Undefeated in world competition on the 3-meter springboard between 1986 and 1992 (including Olympic Games gold medals both in 1988 in Seoul and 1992 in Barcelona). She is tied with the legendary Greg Louganis in winning the greatest number of international awards on one board. Mary Ellen Clark
Mary Ellen Clark (born December 25, 1962) is an American diver who won Olympic bronze medals in diving at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics. Background Clark attended Radnor High School, in Radnor, Pennsylvania. She received her B.S. in Health and Physical Education from Pennsylvania State University and her M.S. in Health and Physical Education from Ohio State University. Career Clark was "voted one of the top-10 women athletes in the country by the United States Olympic Committee in 1996" by the USOC. Clark's career also includes a stint as a member of the United States National Diving Team since 1996. She was also a three-time member of the United States Pan American Team and a seven-time National Champion. However, Clark suffered with Vertigo, resulting in dizzy spells. Yelena Miroshina
Yelena Nikolaevna Miroshina (russian: Елена Николаевна Мирошина, 5 June 1974 – 18 December 1995) was a Russian diver, best known for twice winning the gold medal at the European Championships in the 10 m platform, and winning Olympic silver in 1992, where in the final she progressed from 8th place after 4 jumps to second. Miroshina competed in two consecutive Summer Olympics, and represented two countries: the Soviet Union (1988) and the Unified Team (1992). She was affiliated with Spartak during her career. Miroshina was the youngest participant among the 89 (49 men and 40 women) competitors from 31 countries at the Seoul Games, with 14 years and 105 days. Miroshina retired from competitions in 1995. The same year she was found dead under the windows of her apartment in Moscow. She was pregnant at the time of her death. The cause of death remains unknown.
