Divine Mercy Sanctuary (Białystok)
Divine Mercy Sanctuary in Białystok is a church in the district of Białostoczek at the Radzymińska Street 1. History In August 1982, the City Council received a letter asking for permission to build a church. This was requested by the residents from Poleska Street. The positive answer came after a few months, in December of the same year. This took place after previous unsuccessful attempts by priest Zbigniew Krupski to obtain permission to build a temple at Poleska Street. It was erected in 1984. In 1988 the remains of Michał Sopoćko, the spiritual director of Faustina Kowalska, was moved here. In 1993 also a relic of Faustina Kowalska was set. In 1996 besides the church the papal altar from 1991 was reconstructed. Consecration of the church was held in 2007. On September 28, 2008 the solemn beatification of Michał Sopoćko took place here. Divine Mercy
The Divine Mercy is a form of God's compassion, an act of grace based on trust or forgiveness. In Catholicism, it refers specifically to a devotion which had its origin in the apparitions of Jesus Christ reported by Faustina Kowalska. Etymology The term and concept of divine mercy is from the Hebrew word ''chesed'' ( he, חֶסֶד), which in the Bible can be translated as "great mercy", "goodness", "loving-kindness", "steadfast love", "covenant "faithfulness", "favor", " grace" or "love and mercy", and which refers to God's love for the Children of Israel and for all of humankind. Ryszard Kaczorowski
Ryszard Kaczorowski, Order of St Michael and St George, GCMG (; 26 November 1919 – 10 April 2010) was a Polish statesman. From 1989 to 1990, he served as the last President of Poland-Polish government in exile, in-exile. He succeeded Kazimierz Sabbat, and resigned his post following Poland's regaining independence from the Soviet sphere of influence and the election of Lech Wałęsa as the first democratically elected President of Poland since before the Second World War. Maria Faustyna Kowalska, OLM (born Helena Kowalska; 25 August 1905 – 5 October 1938), also known as ''Maria Faustyna Kowalska of the Blessed Sacrament'', Faustyna popularly spelled "Faustina", was a Polish Catholic religious sister and mystic. Her apparitions of Jesus Christ inspired the Roman Catholic devotion to the Divine Mercy and earned her the title of "Secretary of Divine Mercy". Bronisław Komorowski
Bronisław Maria Komorowski (; born 4 June 1952) is a Polish politician and historian who served as President of Poland from 2010 to 2015. Komorowski served as Minister of Defence from 2000 to 2001. As Marshal of the Sejm, Komorowski exercised the powers and duties of head of state following the death of President Lech Kaczyński in a plane crash on 10 April 2010. Lech Aleksander Kaczyński (; 18 June 194910 April 2010) was a Polish politician who served as the city mayor of Warsaw from 2002 until 2005, and as President of Poland from 2005 until his death in 2010. Józef Glemp (18 December 192923 January 2013) was a Polish cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. He was Archbishop of Warsaw from 1981 to 2006, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1983. Biography Early life and ordination Józef Glemp was born in Inowrocław on 18 December 1929 as a son of Kazimierz Glemp and Salomea Kośmicka, and was baptized the same day. His father had participated in the Greater Poland Uprising from 1918 to 1919. Białystok
Białystok is the largest city in northeastern Poland and the capital of the Podlaskie Voivodeship.
