District 12, Malta
District 12 is an electoral district in Malta. It was established in 1976. Its boundaries have changed many times but it currently consists of the localities of Mellieħa, St. Paul's Bay and part of Naxxar Naxxar ( mt, In-Naxxar) is a small city in the Northern Region of Malta, with a population of 14,891 people as of March 2014. General elections were held in Malta on 9 May 1987. Dieter Nohlen & Philip Stöver (2010) ''Elections in Europe: A data handbook'', p1302 Although the Nationalist Party received the most votes, the Malta Labour Party won a majority of seats. However, in accordance with the modifications made to the electoral system following a similar outcome in the 1981 elections, the Nationalist Party was awarded an extra four seats in order to give them a parliamentary majority. The elections ended 16 years of Labour government, with Nationalist Party Eddie Fenech Adami becoming Prime Minister. General elections were held in Malta on 8 March 2008 to elect all Member of parliament, members of the Parliament of Malta, House of Representatives They were held alongside 2008 Maltese local elections, local elections. The elections were contested by the Nationalist Party (Malta), Nationalist Party, the Malta Labour Party, Labour party, six other parties and independents. The governing Nationalist Party led by Lawrence Gonzi won its third consecutive election against the Labour Party led by Alfred Sant, winning the popular vote by a margin of just 0.55% and with its majority in parliament reduced to just one seat. Michael Gonzi
Michael Gonzi (born 23 October 1960) is a Maltese medical doctor and retired politician. Political career He was elected to the House of Representatives of Malta in the 2008 Maltese general election and again in the 2013 Maltese general election representing the 12th district. Evarist Bartolo (born 14 October 1952) is a Maltese politician affiliated with the Labour Party and formerly the Minister for European & Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Education & Employment. Family Bartolo was born on 14 October 1952 in Mellieha. Bartolo has three brothers and three sisters. His father worked as a primary school teacher. He is married to Gillian (née Sammut) and they have two children, Katrine and Louisa. Education In 1975 Bartolo graduated from the University of Malta with a B.A.(Hons) degree in English Literature. Maria Camilleri
Maria Dolores Camilleri (born 1952) is a Maltese politician and educator who was a member of the Parliament of Malta and a delegate to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 1996 to 1998. She is a member of the Labour Party. In 1997, she co-founded the Mariam Al-Batool school in Paola for Muslim children, and was the headmistress of the school for 17 years. Education and early career Camilleri was born in Rabat, Malta on 7 August 1952. She studied at the University of Malta, receiving an honours degree in arts in 1974 and a teacher's license in 1975.
