Disciplined Breakdown
''Disciplined Breakdown'' is the third studio album by American post-grunge band Collective Soul. It was first released on March 11, 1997. The album was recorded during a difficult time in the band's career, when they were going through a long lawsuit with their former management, and they also recorded the album in a cabin-like studio due to lack of money. Although not as successful as their first two albums, ''Disciplined Breakdown'' did earn Collective Soul a million-selling album (platinum status) in the US, and charted at #16 on the top 200 Album Chart. Two songs also charted on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100: " Precious Declaration" (US #65), also #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks for four weeks; and "Listen" (US #72), also #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks for five weeks. In 1996, Atlantic Records manufactured and released a limited quantity of vinyl versions of the album before the album's full release several months later in 1997. Collective Soul
Collective Soul is an American rock band originally from Stockbridge, Georgia. Now based in Atlanta, the group consists of lead vocalist Ed Roland, rhythm guitarist Dean Roland, bassist Will Turpin, drummer Johnny Rabb, and lead guitarist Jesse Triplett. Formed in 1992, the original lineup consisted of the Roland brothers, Turpin, guitarist Ross Childress, and drummer Shane Evans. Collective Soul released their ''Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid'' album on the independent label Rising Storm Records in 1993. The band went from obscurity to popularity that year after the album's lead single " Shine" received regional radio play. The album was then re-released in 1994 by the major label Atlantic Records; thus, "Shine" became a national hit as it peaked at No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock and No. 4 on the Mainstream Top 40 charts. Will Turpin
William Ross Turpin (born February 8, 1971) is an American musician. He is best known for being the bassist of the rock band Collective Soul. He is also a solo artist, and tours with his backing band, the Way. His debut EP, ''The Lighthouse'', was released in 2011. He owns an indie record label called Gooey Music. Life and career Early life and career beginnings Turpin was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, and raised in Stockbridge, Georgia. Turpin's father, Bill, opened Real 2 Reel Studios in nearby Jonesboro, Georgia in 1976. Turpin began taking piano lessons when he was eight years old. He majored in percussion while attending Florida State University and Georgia State University. He is married to Donna, and they have three children. Ross Childress (born September 8, 1971) is an American musician. He was the original lead guitarist and co-songwriter for the rock band Collective Soul. Life and career Childress was born on September 8, 1971, in Stockbridge, Georgia, USA. Collective Soul Childress grew up with and had played with the original band members of Collective Soul before the group signed to Atlantic Records in early 1994. Shane Evans (musician)
Shane Evans (born April 26, 1970) is an American musician. He was the original drummer for the rock band Collective Soul. Life and career Early life and career beginnings Evans was raised in Stockbridge, Georgia. After graduating from Stockbridge High School, he began his career as a professional drummer for the band Marching Two-Step, which included Michele Rhea Caplinger, Ed Roland and Matt Serletic. The band performed local gigs for a few years, but never managed to grow beyond the club scene. Collective Soul Evans performed on half of the tracks featured on ''Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid'', an album consisting of Ed Roland's songwriting demos.
