Ding Yi Music Company
Ding Yi Music Company (previously known as Arts Sphere Chamber Ensemble), established in 2007, is a Chinese chamber orchestra based in Singapore. The ensemble consists of both full-time and part-time musicians, most having attended professional training at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. The ensemble’s repertoire ranges from traditional Chinese music to contemporary avant-garde interpretations and cross-genre works. Ding Yi has been named "one of Singapore’s most dynamic and successful ensembles". Their performances have been described as "inspirational and aspirational" and their music "invigorating and inspiring". Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod
The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod is a music festival which takes place every year during the second week of July in Llangollen, North Wales. It is one of several large annual Eisteddfodau in Wales. Singers and dancers from around the world are invited to take part in over 20 competitions followed each evening by concerts on the main stage. Over five thousand singers, dancers and instrumentalists from around 50 countries perform to audiences of more than 50,000 over the 6 days of the event. Tay Teow Kiat (; born 1947) is the Music Director of East Zone Schools’ Chinese Orchestra Development Centre, President of Singapore Chinese Instrumental Music Association, Music Director of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) City Chinese Orchestra (CCO), Music Director of Dingyi Chamber Ensemble and Resident Conductor of Dunman High School Chinese Orchestra (DHSCO). He is considered to be the founding father of Chinese orchestral music in Singapore. The Cultural Medallion is a cultural award in Singapore conferred to those who have achieved artistic excellence in dance, theatre, literature, music, photography, art and film. Dr Liang Wern Fook (; born 1964 in Singapore) is a Cantonese Singaporean writer, musician, singer and researcher in Chinese literature and pedagogy. He was one of the pioneer figures in ''xinyao'' (Singaporean Chinese folk songs) movement in the 1980s and 1990s. Biography Early life Liang grew up in a music-loving household, along with his two younger siblings. His father, a journalist, and his mother, an acupuncturist, were always playing the records of singers like Bai Guang and Zhou Xuan.
