Dimitra Arliss (October 23, 1932 – January 26, 2012) was an American actress. Early life and education Of Greek descent, she was born in Lorain, Ohio, on October 23, 1932. She attended Miami University. Career Arliss's acting career began at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. She first gained attention after appearing in Arthur L. Kopit's Broadway play '' Indians'' (1970) in which she played Teskanjavila, a Native American character who spoke with an Italian accent. She also appeared on Broadway as Eurydice in ''Antigone'' (1971) and as Catherine Petkoff in ''Arms and the Man'' (1985). Her films included ''The Sting'' (1973), in which she portrayed Salino, a murderess for hire, ''Xanadu'', ''Firefox'', and ''Bless the Child.'' Dimitra E. Simeonidou is a Professor of High Performance Networks at the University of Bristol. She works on the development of telecommunications networks, including 5G, and is a specialist in smart city infrastructures. Early life and education Simeonidou studied engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where she earned a bachelor's degree in 1987 and master's degree in 1989. She moved to the University of Essex for her doctoral studies, and earned a PhD in 1994. Research and career After graduating she spent four years at Alcatel Submarine Networks, where she worked as Chief Engineer and introduced wavelength-division multiplexing networks. She returned to Essex in 1998, where she established the High Performance Network group. Dimitra ( el, Δήμητρα, before 1955: Τρουμπές - ''Troumpes'') is a village and a community in the municipal unit of Vartholomio, Elis, Greece. It is situated in a rural plain, north of the river Pineios. It is 2 km northwest of Kardiakafti, 2 km east of Machos, 3 km southeast of Neochori and 3 km northeast of Vartholomio. Its population in 2011 was 296 for the village, and 324 for the community, which includes the small village Regklaiika. Between 1835 and 1912 Dimitra was part of the municipality of Myrtountia. Between 1912 and 1933 it was part of the community of Kardiakafti. Between 1933 and 1997, when it joined the municipality of Vartholomio, it was an independent community.
