Dilyn
Dilyn is a dog which lived with former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie during their time at 10 Downing Street. He is a white, male Jack Russell cross and was born in 2018. The dog was rescued as a puppy from a breeder in South Wales by Friends of Animals Wales because he had a misaligned jaw and was going to be put down. The charity gave initial care to the puppy and named it "Dilyn", the Welsh word for "follow", in memory of a spaniel which had recently died. The puppy was then fostered in Merthyr Tydfil for a few weeks before being adopted by Johnson and Symonds in 2019. The couple were introduced to the charity by Marc Abraham, the vet who successfully campaigned for " Lucy's Law", regulations prohibiting third-party commercial sale of puppies. Larry is a British domestic cat who has served as Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office of the United Kingdom at 10 Downing Street since 2011. He is a brown-and-white tabby, believed to have been born in January 2007. Larry is cared for by Downing Street staff and is not the personal property of the prime minister. He has served during the premierships of five prime ministers: David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak. Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office is the title of the official resident cat at 10 Downing Street, the residence and executive office of the prime minister of the United Kingdom in London. There has been a resident cat in the British government employed as a mouser and pet since the 16th century, although modern records date only to the 1920s.
