Digital Poodle was an electronic music, electro-industrial music, industrial/electronic body music, EBM band, based in Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was formed in 1986 and remained active until about 1995. Background Formed in 1986 by vocalist/programmer Heiki Sillaste (aka Mouth 392), the project was considered Toronto's answer to the established Vancouver-based industrial acts like Skinny Puppy, and Front Line Assembly. Digital Poodle's sound can be best described as house music, house/techno music, techno mixed with European Electronic body music (EBM) and occasionally skirting experimental and ambient soundscapes. Sillaste's lyrical themes and choice of Sampling (music), audio sampling typically covered the ending of the Cold War, as well as the following political independence struggles in the Baltics, Baltic states and Eastern Europe. Downtempo
Downtempo (or downbeat) is a broad label for electronic music that features an atmospheric sound and slower beats than would typically be found in dance music. Closely related to ambient music but with greater emphasis on rhythm, the style may be played in chillout clubs or as "warm-up or cool-down" music during a DJ set. Examples of downtempo subgenres include trip hop, ambient house, chillwave, psybient and lo-fi hip hop.
