Digea
Digea is a Greek network operator that provides a digital terrestrial television system in Greece for seven nationwide free-to-air channels (Alpha TV, Alter Channel, ANT1, Makedonia TV, Mega Channel, Skai TV and Star Channel). In addition to these free-to-air nationwide stations, the network is open to any other station choosing to use its services. The name Digea is a word play in Greek: composed of the words "Digital" and "Gaea" (the Greek name for Gaia, the ancient goddess who was the personification of the Earth), literally translated as "Digital Earth". It symbolizes a union of the digital era and the basis for life in our world. The company’s main area of activity is the provision of networking and multiplexing services, both to the above-mentioned shareholders as well as to any legal entity opting to use the company’s services. Digital Terrestrial Television
Digital terrestrial television (DTTV or DTT, or DTTB with "broadcasting") is a technology for terrestrial television in which land-based (terrestrial) television stations broadcast television content by radio waves to televisions in consumers' residences in a digital format. DTTV is a major technological advance over the previous analog television, and has largely replaced analog which had been in common use since the middle of the 20th century. Attica TV
Attica TV is a Greek regionally based television station in Aspropyrgos of Attica. History It was established and started transmissions on March 20, 1997 as Thriasio TV. In March 2009 it took its current name. It is the primary channel of the Municipality of Aspropyrgos. Since July 2010 the station is broadcasting digitally via the Digea digital provider. Since mid-2012 it broadcasts programs from the Eastern Orthodox religious channel 4E TV of Thessaloniki. Employees of the station went to work retention on March 1, 2012 because they were unpaid for nine months. Program The program of the station includes documentaries from Greek sites and excerpts from the University of Aspropyrgos. Emissions also emerge from the 4E TV. However, the station's program usually does not include live its own productions or newscast, thus it is sometimes classified as "phantom channel". MEGA Channel, also known as MEGA TV or just MEGA, is a television network in Greece, that broadcasts a mix of foreign and Greek programming. It is the first and the oldest private television network in Greece. History Mega Channel (1989–2018) Mega is the first private television station to launch in Greece on 20 November 1989 and was the trade name of Teletypos S.A. (Τηλέτυπος A.E.) Skai TV
Skai TV ( Greek: ΣΚΑΪ) is a Greek free-to-air television network based in Piraeus. It is part of the Skai Group, one of the largest media groups in the country. It was relaunched in its present form on 1 April 2006 in the Athens metropolitan area, and gradually spread its coverage nationwide. Besides digital terrestrial transmission, it is available on the subscription-based encrypted services of Nova and Cosmote TV. Skai TV is also a member of Digea, a consortium of private television networks introducing digital terrestrial transmission in Greece. At launch, Skai TV opted for dubbing all foreign language content into Greek, instead of using subtitles. Nickelodeon is a Greek free-to-air television channel that was launched on 3 September 2010. Kontra Channel is a Greek private regional television station based in Tavros. It broadcasts terrestrially digitally from 13 broadcasting centers in Attica and Euboea and via satellite through NOVA subscription platform. Action 24 is a private regional television channel whose facilities are located in the area of Marousi. It broadcasts terrestrial digital from 14 broadcast centers in Attica and Evia and satellite via the subscription platforms of Nova and Cosmote TV. History The station started its operation in October 1990 from the area of Megara under the name TVM (TV Megara). In 1992 it was renamed TV Magic while its facilities were moved to Piraeus. Channel 9 (Greek: Κανάλι 9) was a Greek television channel broadcasting in the region of Attica. Despite being declared to be a news-based channel, the majority of the channel's programming since the early 2010s, has consisted of telemarketing. MTV (Greek TV Channel)
MTV Greece was a Greek free-to-air regional television channel launched on 1 September 2008, replacing Smart TV. Owned by Radio TV Piraeus S.A., it closed down suddenly on 11 January 2016, one year prior the proper MTV copyrights come to an end, despite the good ratings. It was replaced by RISE on terrestrial television. Also, it OTE TV and Nova subscription providers, it was replaced by MTV Europe and MTV Live.
