Mindi Dickstein
Mindi Dickstein is an American lyricist and librettist. Dickstein wrote the lyrics for the 2005 musical production ''Little Women'', based on the 1868 novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott. Other notable work includes the book for '' Toy Story: The Musical''. She is now writing lyrics for ''Benny & Joon'', a new musical based on the MGM film of that name with music by Nolan Gasser and libretto by Kirsten Guenther, scheduled to commence the 2017–2018 season at The Old Globe in San Diego, California. Since 1996, Dickstein has taught at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in the graduate musical theatre programme. In 2001, Dickstein received the Jonathan Larson Grant. Samuel Dickstein (congressman)
Samuel Dickstein (February 5, 1885 – April 22, 1954) was a Democratic Congressional Representative from New York (22-year tenure), a New York State Supreme Court Justice, and a Soviet spy. He played a key role in establishing the committee that would become the House Committee on Un-American Activities, which he used to attack fascists, including Nazi sympathizers, and suspected communists. In 1999, authors Allen Weinstein and Alexander Vassiliev learned that Soviet files indicate that Dickstein was a paid agent of the NKVD. Background Dickstein was born on February 5, 1885, into a Jewish family of five children near Vilna in the Russian Empire (now known as Vilnius, Lithuania). Samuel Dickstein (mathematician)
Samuel Dickstein (12 May 1851 – 28 September 1939) was a Polish mathematician of Jewish origin. He was one of the founders of the Jewish party ''Zjednoczenie'' ("the union"), which advocated the assimilation of Polish Jews. He was born in Warsaw and was killed there by a German bomb at the beginning of World War II. All the members of his family were murdered during the Holocaust. Work Dickstein wrote many mathematical books and founded the journal ''Wiadomości Mathematyczne'' (''Mathematical News''), now published by the Polish Mathematical Society. He was a bridge between the times of Cauchy and Poincaré and those of the Lwów School of Mathematics.
