Ludovico Einaudi
Ludovico Maria Enrico Einaudi OMRI (; born 23 November 1955) is an Italian pianist and composer. Trained at the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan, Einaudi began his career as a classical composer, later incorporating other styles and genres such as pop, rock, folk, and world music. Einaudi has composed the scores for a number of films and television productions, including ''This Is England'', ''The Intouchables'', '' I'm Still Here'', the TV miniseries ''Doctor Zhivago'', and ''Acquario'' (1996), for which he won the Grolla d'oro. His music was used as the score for the Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning films ''Nomadland'' and '' The Father'.'' Ballaké Sissoko
Ballaké Sissoko (born 1968) is a Malian player of the kora. He has worked with Toumani Diabaté and Taj Mahal, and is a member of the group 3MA with Driss El Maloumi and Rajery. Biography Ballaké's father, Djelimady Sissoko, was a notable musician from the Gambia in his own right who moved to Mali and was funded by the government to be part of the national orchestra. Sissoko started playing music at a young age, as most born into the ''jeli'' or griot caste do. In 1981, when he was 13, Sissoko's father died, and he took his father's place within the Ensemble Instrumental National du Mali. He also performed with several prominent female singers before coming to fame through his duet with Toumani Diabaté in 1999. In 2000, he formed the trio Mande Tabolo with an n'goni player and a balafon player. ''I Giorni'' (2001) is a music album by the Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi. The album's title translates as "The Days" in English. The title track, "I Giorni" has had a lot of interest due to Greg James' airing in June 2011 of the piece on BBC Radio 1. It entered the UK Singles Chart at number 32 on 12 June 2011. A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. Piano
The piano is a stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer material (modern hammers are covered with dense wool felt; some early pianos used leather). The kora (Manding languages: ''köra'') is a stringed instrument used extensively in West Africa. A kora typically has 21 strings, which are played by plucking with the fingers. It combines features of the lute and harp. Description The kora is built from gourd, cut in half and covered with cow skin to make a resonator with a long hardwood neck. The skin is supported by two handles that run underneath it. It has 21 strings, each of which plays a different note. These strings are supported by a notched, double free-standing bridge.
