Diana Ser
Diana Ser () (born 26 April 1972) is a journalist, Channel NewsAsia presenter, as well as former Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS) actress and host. She was a prominent full-time Mediacorp artiste from 1990 to 2008. She left Mediacorp in 2008 and now runs a communications consulting and media training company. She was last seen on local television in 2008, where she co-hosted an episode of ''Glamour Mum and The Dude'' on MediaCorp Channel 8 with Bryan Wong. Personal life Diana Ser's father is Chinese and her mother has English blood. Ser attended CHIJ Saint Nicholas Girls' School, Victoria Junior College, the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore. In 2005, she was awarded the Nanyang Alumni Award from NTU, where she received a Masters in Mass Communication. The Star Awards for Best Newcomer is an award presented annually at the Star Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1994. The category was introduced in 1994, at the 1st Star Awards ceremony as two separate awards; Yao Wenlong received the award as the Most Popular Male Newcomer award while Ivy Lee received the Most Popular Female Newcomer award and both were given in honour of a MediaCorp male and female newcomer who were deemed the most popular among the television audience. Star Awards 2018 (also SA2018SG, Chinese: 红星大奖2018) is a television award ceremony which is held in Singapore. The Post Party and Ceremony Awards was broadcast live on 22 April 2018. A total of 15 awards were handed out during the ceremony, among which the Special Achievement Award, an award given out to a celebrity in recognition to meritorious contribution, returned after a 15-year absence, with the award last presented in 2003, in the place of All-Time Favourite Artiste, which was not presented this year, and the third ceremony overall, after 2007 and 2013. The ceremony saw ''When Duty Calls'' winning the most awards (five), among which they were Best Theme Song, Best Director, Best Drama Serial, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress; ''The Lead'' was the second-biggest winning drama serial, clinching the two other major categories plus Young Talent award, for a total of three. Star Awards 2005 was the 12th Star Awards ceremony, held on 4 December 2005. It was part of the annual Star Awards organised by MediaCorp for MediaCorp TV Channel 8. Following MediaCorp's merger with SPH MediaWorks on 1 January 2005, the nominees included artistes from the former SPH MediaWorks Channel U, many of whom were former employees of MediaCorp and its predecessor Television Corporation of Singapore. MediaCorp TV Channel 8 broadcast the awards ceremony from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm while SPH MediaWorks Channel U (now MediaCorp TV Channel U), aired the ceremony for the first time and began broadcasting the ceremony at 7:30 pm. Prior to the actual ceremony, a separate awards ceremony and gala was held at The Fullerton Hotel in which technical category awards (e.g. Best Director, Best Screenplay, etc.) and the Young Talent Award (child actors) were given out. The Star Awards (Chinese: 红星大奖) are awards for artistic and technical merit in the media organisation Mediacorp of Singapore where Mediacorp recognises entertainers under their employment for outstanding performances of the year.
