Diana Farrington (born March 9, 1965) is an American politician in Michigan. Farrington is a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from the Michigan's 30th House of Representatives district, 30th district since 2017. Early life Farrington was born in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Farrington grew up in Utica, Michigan. Farrington graduated from Utica High School (Michigan), Utica High School. Education Farrington attended Oakland University. Career Farrington is a mortgage auditor. Farrington owns a sports photography company. In November 2016, Farrington was elected as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives for Michigan's 30th House of Representatives district, District 30. Sterling Heights is a city in Macomb County of the U.S. state of Michigan, and one of Detroit's core suburbs. As of the 2020 Census, the city had a total population of 134,346. It is the second largest suburb in Metro Detroit, and the fourth largest city in Michigan. The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2010 U.S. Census. Its composition, powers and duties are established in Article IV of the Michigan Constitution. Utica is a city in Macomb County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,757 at the 2010 census. History The city now known as Utica was platted by Joseph Stead in 1817, who preferred to call it "Harlow." Others referred to the city as "Hog's Hollow" or "McDougalville," until a few years later it was finally named Utica by settlers from New York, in honor of the city of the same name in that state. Utica High School, known locally as UHS, is one of four public high schools in the Utica Community School District, located in the metro Detroit region. History The forerunner of Utica High School, the Utica Union School, opened in 1860. It was renamed Utica High School in 1900. 2018 Michigan House Of Representatives Election
An election was held on November 6, 2018 to elect all 110 members to Michigan's House of Representatives. The election coincided with elections for other offices, including U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor and Senate. The primary election was held on August 7, 2018. Republicans retained control of the House, despite losing the popular vote, after a net loss of five seats, winning 58 seats compared to 52 seats for the Democrats. Term-limited members Under the Michigan Constitution, members of the state Senate are able to serve only two four-year terms, and members of the House of Representatives are limited to three two-year terms, some of the toughest term-limit laws in the country.
