Dhanmondi Government Boys' High School
Dhanmondi Government Boys' High School (DGBHS) is a public boys' school located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is a state school, state run educational institution located at the intersection of Mirpur Road and Manik Miah Avenue. Originally started as the model government school to educate the childrens of higher government officials, member of parliaments, and prominent businessman of the capital, the school is now open to every student despite of background. With a diverse group of successful and well known alumni network all over the world, DGBHS has been grooming the best of the country till date. DGBHS also played a very vital role in help sheltering the Mukti Bahini during the Liberation War, resulting the total demolition of the school campus by an air strike by the Pakistan Air Force. 2018 Bangladesh Road-safety Protests
A series of public protests in Bangladesh advocating improved road safety were held from 29 July to 8 August 2018. They were sparked by the deaths of two high-school students in Dhaka struck by a bus operated by an unlicensed driver who was racing to collect passengers. The incident impelled students to demand safer roads and stricter traffic laws, and the demonstrations rapidly spread throughout Bangladesh. The protests were peaceful until 2 August, when police attempted to disperse the demonstrators with tear gas and people believed to be members of a pro-government youth league attacked protesters and journalists. The government arrested several protesters and a photographer for giving an interview about the protests to international media. Various international organisations and high-profile figures expressed solidarity with the protesters. Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh
Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh (born 19 November 1971) is a Bangladeshi politician and current Mayor of South Dhaka. He previously served as a Member of the Jatiya Sangsad for Dhaka-10 and Dhaka-12 from the Bangladesh Awami League. Early life Taposh was born to Awami League leader Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani and Arzu Moni. His parents were both assassinated on 15 August 1975 in a military coup that also killed Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other members of his family. Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury (known as Nixon Chowdhury; born 3 March 1978) is a Bangladeshi politician and the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Faridpur-4 constituency. Early life Chowdhury was born on 3 March 1978 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He came from a Bengali Muslim family of Chowdhuries from the village of Duttapara in Shibchar, Madaripur District. His parents, Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury and Sheikh Feroza Begum, were cousins of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Abdus Suttar Khan (c. 1941 – 31 January 2008) was a Bangladeshi scientist. He researched on aerospace for four decades with NASA, United Technologies Corporation, United Technology, and Alstom, a French power generation company. Syed Hasanur Rahman (born April 19, 1974) popularly known as Hasan, is a Bengali singer-songwriter and lead vocalist of the Bangladeshi popular Rock band ''Ark''. He joined the band in 1996 as the main vocalist. After six years of journey with the band, Hasan left the Ark in 2002 and formed new band Swadhinata in 2004. Hasan performed more than 200 songs. Akbar Ali Khan (economist)
Akbar Ali Khan (1944 – 8 September 2022) was a Bangladeshi economist and educationist who served as a bureaucrat until 2001. He was a sub-divisional officer of Habiganj during the Bangladesh Liberation War when he decided to join the war. Later he served as an official of the Mujibnagar Government. After independence, he rejoined the civil service and reached the highest post of Cabinet Secretary. In the meanwhile, he also worked as a university teacher.
