Dewi Penrhyn Jones
Dewi Penrhyn Jones (born in Wrexham in 1994) is a Welsh cricketer who has played for Glamorgan County Cricket Club. He is a right-arm seam bowler. Penrhyn Jones attended Ysgol Bodhyfryd junior school and Ysgol Morgan Llwyd in Wrexham before taking his GCSEs and A levels at Ellesmere College in Shropshire, where he was offered a cricketing scholarship. played cricket for Brymbo C.C at junior and senior level and represented Wales at all levels from Under 11's to the senior team, who play in the Minor Counties Cricket Championship. Penrhyn Jones was selected for Glamorgan's academy in 2013 before being offered a professional contract in September 2014. He played in first-class match against Pakistan A in July 2016. Penrhyn Jones was released by Glamorgan at the end of the 2016 season. He played for Bowdon Cricket Club in the Cheshire County Premier League during the 2017 season. Bowdon Cricket Club is an amateur cricket club based at South Downs Road, Bowdon in Greater Manchester. The club's first team plays in the Cheshire County Cricket League, which is one of the ECB Premier Leagues that are the highest level of the amateur, recreational sport in England and Wales. The club was founded in 1856. Bowdon has been one of the most successful clubs in North West England and has been the champions of the Cheshire League nine times since the league was formed in 1975, including three consecutive victories twice, in 1996 to 1998 and 2002 to 2004. The NCCA 3 Day Championship (previously the Minor Counties Cricket Championship) is a season-long competition in England and Wales that is contested by the members of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), the so-called national counties that do not have first-class status. History The competition began in 1895, with the Worcestershire honorary secretary Paul Foley being influential in its creation. Apart from the two World War periods, it has been contested annually ever since. From 2014 to 2019 the tournament was known as the Unicorns Championship. Wales National County Cricket Club is one of twenty National county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents all of the historic counties of Wales except Glamorgan and is currently the only non-English member of the National Counties Cricket Championship.
