Develop Nova Scotia
Develop Nova Scotia Limited was a Crown corporation of Nova Scotia, Canada responsible for the implementation and administration of strategic infrastructure and property projects. Founded in 1976 as the Waterfront Development Corporation Limited, it was originally tasked with revitalising post-industrial waterfront land in Halifax and Dartmouth. In 2001, WDCL absorbed another provincial corporation, the Bedford Waterfront Development Corporation. The corporation was renamed Develop Nova Scotia in July 2018 when its mandate was expanded to encompass strategic economic infrastructure and property projects across the province. The provincial government subsequently introduced legislation to formalise the changes. The Develop Nova Scotia Act was passed in September 2018 and received royal assent in October 2018. Dartmouth ( ) is an urban community and former city located in the Halifax Regional Municipality of Nova Scotia, Canada. Dartmouth is located on the eastern shore of Halifax Harbour. Dartmouth has been nicknamed the City of Lakes, after the large number of lakes located within its boundaries. On April 1, 1996, the provincial government amalgamated all the municipalities within the boundaries of Halifax County into a single-tier regional government named the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). Nova Scotia Archives is a governmental archival institution serving the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. The archives acquires, preserves and makes available the province's documentary heritage – recorded information of provincial significance created or accumulated by government and the private sector over the last 300 years. The idea for a provincial archives and a Provincial Archivist first took root on April 30, 1857 when a resolution was put forward in the Legislative Assembly (moved by Joseph Howe, and seconded by James W. Johnston), making it the first provincial archives in Canada. Thomas Beamish Akins, a lawyer, historian, archivist, and author, was appointed Nova Scotia's first Commissioner of Public Records from 1857 until his death in 1891. Tim Houston
Timothy Jerome Houston (born April 10, 1970) is a Canadian politician who is the 30th and current premier of Nova Scotia since 2021. He was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in the 2013 provincial election. A member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia, he represents the electoral district of Pictou East. Houston also served as the leader of the opposition from 2018 to 2021. He and the Progressive Conservative party won a majority government in the 2021 Nova Scotia general election, becoming the first Progressive Conservative premier since 2009. Halifax Boardwalk
The Halifax Waterfront Boardwalk is a public footpath located on the Halifax Harbour waterfront in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Constructed of durable heavy timber, the Halifax boardwalk is open to the public 24 hours a day. The boardwalk also includes shops at Bishop's Landing and the Historic Properties buildings as well as the " Cable Wharf", a former cable ship terminal now used as a tour boat base for several vessels formerly including '' Theodore Too''. A fleet of tugboats operated from the tug wharves at the foot of Salter Street for over a hundred years, including the famous tug but in 2010 the last tugs such as were transferred to Port Hawkesbury.
