The Detroit Party Marching Band is a guerrilla band based in Detroit, Michigan. The band appears at events unexpectedly. New Orleans Mardi Gras
The holiday of Mardi Gras is celebrated in all of Louisiana, including the city of New Orleans. Celebrations are concentrated for about two weeks before and through Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday (the start of lent in the Western Christian tradition). Usually there is one major parade each day (weather permitting); many days have several large parades. The largest and most elaborate parades take place the last five days of the Mardi Gras season. In the final week, many events occur throughout New Orleans and surrounding communities, including parades and balls (some of them masquerade balls). The parades in New Orleans are organized by social clubs known as krewes; most follow the same parade schedule and route each year. Theatre Bizarre
Theatre Bizarre is an annual Halloween masquerade staged at the Detroit Masonic Temple. The event takes up eight of the building's sixteen floors. The performers include local and national music acts, burlesque dancers, suspension artists and sideshow "freaks". Included in the national acts that have played at Theatre Bizarre are The Enigma, Mucca Pazza and winner of the 2010 Miss Exotic World Pageant, Roxi Dlite. History In 1999, John Dunivant was ejected from Detroit's Russell Industrial Center, where he'd held studio space and staged a large Halloween party each year. Detroit Free Press Marathon
The Detroit Free Press/ TCF Bank Marathon is a race run every October in Detroit, Michigan, United States and Windsor, Ontario, Canada since 1978. The marathon course is international and has featured the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel for all but two years of its existence. The current course crosses the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel between Detroit and Windsor. Due to its use of the tunnel, the race is able to boast that it has the only official underwater international mile in the world, as the tunnel runs underneath the Detroit River. The race is a USATF-certified, Boston-qualifier course. The race weekend also features a half-marathon, a relay and a 5K fun run. ''Honk!'' is a musical adaptation of the 1843 Hans Christian Andersen story ''The Ugly Duckling'', incorporating a message of tolerance. The book and lyrics are by Anthony Drewe and music is by George Stiles (of the British songwriting duo Stiles and Drewe). The musical is set in the countryside and features Ugly – a cygnet who is mistaken as an ugly duckling upon falling into his mother's nest and is rejected by everyone but Ida (his mother), a sly tomcat who only befriends him out of hunger, and several other barnyard characters. Band of Horses is an American rock band formed in 2004 in Seattle, Washington.
