Det Centrale Personregister
Det Centrale Personregister (CPR; kl, Inunnik Qitiusumik Nalunaarsuiffik, en, Civil Registration System) is the Realm of Denmark's nationwide civil registry. Established in 1968, the registry contains the name, address, Danish personal identification number, date and place of birth, citizenship and other information on all the state's citizens and residents. Virtually every government agency in the Realm of Denmark receives information about a person from this database. The register came into force by royal assent in Greenland with the effect from 1 July 1972. The register is housed by CPR-Kontoret (literally "The CPR Office"), which is responsible for maintaining and developing the database and communicating data to government agencies, as well as to authorised private companies. Personal Identification Number (Denmark)
The Danish Personal Identification number ( da, CPR-nummer or , kl, CPR-normu or ) is a national identification number, which is part of the personal information stored in the Civil Registration System ( da, Det Centrale Personregister, kl, Inunnik Qitiusumik Nalunaarsuiffik). The register was established in 1968 by combining information from all the municipal civil registers of Denmark into one. The register came into force by royal assent in Greenland with the effect from 1 July 1972. It is a ten-digit number with the format DDMMYY-SSSS, where DDMMYY is the date of birth and SSSS is a sequence number. The first digit of the sequence number encodes the century of birth (so that centenarians are distinguished from infants), and the last digit of the sequence number is odd for males and even for females. Nordic Council
The Nordic Council is the official body for formal inter-parliamentary Nordic cooperation among the Nordic countries. Formed in 1952, it has 87 representatives from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden as well as from the autonomous areas of the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland.
