Dessie Cullinane
Desmond James Cullinane (2 August 1919 – 21 March 1990) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for club side Clonakilty and at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team. Playing career Cullinane was just 16-years-old when he made his debut with the Clonakilty senior team in 1936. It was the first of 18 successive years with the team, during which time he won seven County Championship titles during a golden age for the club. Cullinane made his first appearance for the Cork senior football team during the National League in 1938, before later captaining the county's junior team that won the Munster Championship in 1940. He returned to the senior team as captain during the opening round of the 1945 Munster Championship, however, he was later dropped from the starting fifteen and the captaincy was handed to Tadhgo Crowley. Clonakilty GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in the town and parish of Clonakilty in County Cork, Ireland. It is affiliated to the Carbery division of Cork. It was founded in October 1887. The club is most famous for being from the same town where black pudding is produced. The club currently plays in the Cork Senior Football Championship and has won the title on 9 occasions. Winning in 1939, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1946, 1947, 1952, 1996 and 2009. All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. Each tournament ends with a final, played by the 35th Sunday of the year at Croke Park in Dublin, with the winning team receiving the Sam Maguire Cup. Mick Finn (Gaelic Footballer)
Michael Finn (3 February 1915 – 9 November 1987) was an Irish Gaelic footballer and hurler who played for club sides Barryroe, Kilbrittain and Clonakilty, at divisional level with Carbery and at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team. Playing career Finn's career began with the Barryroe club where he played both Gaelic football and hurling. As a boarder at St. Augustine's College he expanded on his sporting exploits, winning a Munster schoolboys' cap for rugby and remaining unbeaten in handball in Munster for four years. On returning home, Finn played with Darrara Agricultural College before joining the Clonakilty club in 1935. In a 20-year career with "Clon", he won six County Championship titles, including one as captain in 1947. As a hurler of note, he won a total of seven divisional championship medals with Clonakilty and Kilbrittain.
