Desert Crown (foaled 2 March 2019) is a British Thoroughbred racehorse. After winning his only race as a juvenile in 2021 he took the Dante Stakes on his three-year-old debut and then maintained his unbeaten record by winning the Epsom Derby. Background Desert Crown is a bay colt with a white star and white sock on his left hind leg bred in England by the Cambridgeshire-based Strawberry Fields Stud. In October 2020 the yearling was put up for auction at the Tattersalls Sale and was bought for 280,000 guineas by Blandford Bloodstock on behalf of the Dubai businessman Saeed Suhail. He was sent into training with Michael Stoute at Freemason Lodge Stables in Newmarket. Nathaniel (horse)
Nathaniel (foaled 24 April 2008) is an Irish-bred British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. Nathaniel failed to win in two races as a two-year-old but attracted attention by running Frankel to half a length at Newmarket. At three he recorded his first major win in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot and then won Britain's most prestigious all-aged race, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes over the same course and distance. Nathaniel returned in 2012 to win the Eclipse Stakes on his seasonal debut. Although he failed to win again he was placed in the King George, the Irish Champion Stakes and the Champion Stakes before being retired at the end of the year. Richard Kingscote
Richard Kingscote is a British jockey who competes in flat racing. He won the 2022 Epsom Derby on Desert Crown. Background Kingscote grew up in Weston-super-Mare in a family with no racing connections and started riding as a child. He attended the British Racing School and was then apprenticed to trainer Roger Charlton. Career Kingscote rode his first winner in 2004. In 2008 he became a stable jockey to trainer Tom Dascombe. Nottingham Racecourse
Nottingham Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue located in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England. It is situated at Colwick Park, close to the River Trent and about 3 km east of the city centre. Characteristics There are actually two courses at Nottingham, one inside the other. Bethrah (foaled 21 March 2007) is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare best known for winning the Irish 1,000 Guineas in 2010. Byword (foaled 13 February 2006) is a British-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Unraced as a two-year-old, he showed promising form, winning two of his four races including the listed Prix Pelleas. In the following year he emerged as a world-class performer, winning the listed Prix Jacques Laffitte before defeating strong fields in both the Prix du Muguet and the Prince of Wales's Stakes. Quiet Fling (foaled 1972) was an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. After finishing second on his only start as a two-year-old he developed into a high-class stayer in the following year when he won two handicap races and finished second in the Irish St. Leger.
