Desafio De Estrellas
''Desafío de Estrellas'' is a Mexican musical show produced and distributed by TV Azteca, the second most important network in the country. The format of the Desafío is similar to ''American Idol'' with contestants eliminated every week and a grand finale with the top contestants competing to win the first place prize. TV Azteca has, until 2006, produced two versions of the program, one in 2003 and the other in 2006. The 2003 version consisted only of former contestants of ''La Academia'', another TV Azteca-produced show which had already garnished two seasons and, in the process, taken away rating from Televisa, the prime network of the country. The 2006 version, on the other hand, consisted of both former contestants of ''La Academia'' (all four seasons), as well as other artists produced by TV Azteca in the middle and late '90s, later in 2009 a third season took place with former contestants of the six seasons of la academia. Enrique Guzmán
Enrique Guzmán (born February 1, 1943) is a Venezuelan-born Mexican singer and actor. He is one of the pioneers of Rock & Roll in Mexico, along with César Costa, Angélica María, Johnny Laboriel and Alberto Vasquez, among others. He is also the father of Mexican singer Alejandra Guzmán by his former wife, actress and singer Silvia Pinal. Life and career Enrique Guzmán was born in Venezuela to Mexican parents. They moved back to Mexico when Enrique was 7. He studied medicine at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México although he did not complete his studies. Edgar Guerrero
Edgar Guerrero Gastelum (born October 23, 1979, in Burley, Idaho), lived in the Mexican state of Sinaloa until the age of 8. He and his family later moved to Glenns Ferry, Idaho. He is the son of Juan Guerrero and Dora Guerrero Gastelum. He graduated from Glenn’s Ferry High School and he graduated from Boise State University where he received a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design in 2004. Before entering the popular Mexican show La Academia, an 'American Idol'-style TV show, he was a member of several music groups, most recently Grupo Karibe in Boise, which performs all styles of music in Spanish. He was working for a Boise Airport car rental company when he auditioned for the show in Los Angeles. Erasmo Catarino González Bernal (born November 25, 1977, Querétaro), is a Mexican singer and the first-place winner on the popular Mexican television show '' La Academia 4'' (2005). Pasta De Conchos Mine Disaster
The Pasta de Conchos mine disaster occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. CST on February 19, 2006, after a methane explosion within a coal mine near Nueva Rosita, San Juan de Sabinas municipality, in the Mexican state of Coahuila. The mines were run by Grupo México, the largest mining company in the country. It was estimated that 65 miners, who were working the 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. shift that morning, were trapped underground by the explosion. Only 2 of the 65 bodies have been recovered. Background There have been conflicting reports regarding the depth at which the miners were trapped. The National Mining and Metal Workers Union (SNTMMSRM) stated that the trapped miners were approximately below ground, via a mile-long horizontal shaft.
