Des Dickson (Australian Footballer)
Des Dickson (born 10 January 1941) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). "Delicate Des", as he was known ironically, was a tough, rough defender and changing ruckman. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). Hawthorn Football Club
The Hawthorn Football Club, nicknamed the Hawks, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Mulgrave, Victoria, that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was founded in 1902 in the inner-east suburb of Hawthorn, making it the youngest Victorian-based team in the AFL. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Bendigo ( ) is a city in Victoria, Australia, located in the Bendigo Valley near the geographical centre of the state and approximately north-west of Melbourne, the state capital.
