Dereza prefers idleness, pretending to be unhappy and hungry. Using the protection of a grandfather who believes her, she loses sense of proportion and is thrown out of the house. The goat later repents. Roman Abelevich Kachanov (russian: link=no, Роман Абелевич Качанов; 25 February 19214 July 1993) was a Soviet animator who worked primarily in the stop-motion animation technique. He directed the popular series of films about Cheburashka: ''Gena the Crocodile'', ''Cheburashka'', ''Shapoklyak'' and ''Cheburashka Goes to School''. Life Early years Kachanov was born in 1921 in Smolensk. His mother was Haya Yakovlevna Kachanova; his father, Abel Mendelevich Kachanov, was a shoemaker. His mother died in 1932, when he was 11 years old. In spring 1939, Kachanov was called up for military service in the Red Army in the town of Chkalovsky, near Moscow. This deployment separated him permanently from his father and his only, older sister Maria (both were killed in Smolensk during the Holocaust). Yuriy Meshcheryakov
Yuriy Victorovich Meshcheryakov (russian: link=no, Юрий Викторович Мещеряков; 27 August 1946 in Moscow – 6 October 2001 in Moscow) was a Soviet, Russian and Ukrainian animator, one of a number of outstanding Soviet animators, who worked at the end of the "golden era" of Soviet animation. Biography Yuriy was born in Moscow on 27 August 1946. In 1965 he graduated from the College of Architecture in Moscow. He attended a course for animators at the studio "Soyuzmultfilm" in 1971 – 1972 year. Yuriy Meshcheryakov was invited to work on The Films of The Great Soviet directors like Ivan Ivanov-Vano, Roman Kachanov, Fedor Khitruk and other masters. He made a unique contribution to fifty cartoon films. When the Soviet animation lost with the collapse of the USSR, Yuri grieved unemployment and economic crisis. He died on 6 October 2001.
