Derek Murphy (musician)
Derek Murphy is an American drummer and session musician. Early in his career, Derek Murphy was a part of Forget the Name and Milk Can in Miami. He performed on many recordings with artists such as Amanda Green, Beth Wood and Mary Karlzen and with legendary engineer Tom Dowd. In 1999, Murphy moved to Atlanta and performed on the recording of "The American" with singer-songwriter, Angie Aparo and Grammy-winning producer Matt Serletic. Murphy has recently completed recordings with Angie Aparo, Teitur, Georgia, Aslyn (featuring the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section is a group of American session musicians based in the northern Alabama town of Muscle Shoals. Angie Aparo
Angie Aparo is an American musician and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. Aparo began playing in a group called Angie's Hope in the early 1990s before making the decision to go solo. After making that decision, Aparo chose to go out on the road touring with his acoustic guitar in the Southeast. In 1996, he released his first CD ''Out of the Everywhere,'' recorded at David Briggs Studio in Nashville, Tennessee with Jim Stabile as engineer. Burnard Tate played drums. In 1999, with Grammy-winning producer Matt Serletic, Aparo released ''The American''. His single, "Spaceship," hit the radio waves in 2000, and ''The American'' also includes his original version of the single "Cry", made popular by Faith Hill and featured on her album of the same name. Matt Serletic
Matthew Michael Serletic II (born 1970 or 1971) is an American record producer, songwriter, and music executive. Career As a teenager, Serletic joined a band with members of Collective Soul, a group for which he would later produce. Serletic has worked with several other popular bands and artists for Atlantic Records, including Matchbox Twenty, Cher, Blessid Union of Souls, Edwin McCain, Stacie Orrico, Taylor Hicks, Rob Thomas, and singer/songwriter Angie Aparo. Serletic worked with ''American Idol'' winner David Cook on his second studio album. He also preceded Jason Flom as chairman of Virgin Records, a position he held from 2002 to 2005. Heather "Aslyn" Mitchell Nash (born September 21, 1980) is an American pop singer and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. She released two full-length albums, ''Lemon Love'' and ''The Dandelion Sessions'', as well as a 4-disc EP. She is also the sister of three members of the band Georgia. Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section
The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section is a group of American session musicians based in the northern Alabama town of Muscle Shoals. One of the most prominent American studio house bands from the 1960s to the 1980s, these musicians, individually or as a group, have been associated with more than 500 recordings, including 75 gold and platinum hits. They were masters at creating a southern combination of R&B, soul and country music known as the "Muscle Shoals sound" to back up black artists, who were often in disbelief to learn that the studio musicians were white. Over the years from 1962 to 1969, there have been two successive groups under the name "Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section" and the common factor in the two was an association with Rick Hall at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals.
