Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1990 represents the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire won the Refuge Assurance League winning twelve of their sixteen matches. The club had been playing for one hundred and nineteen years. In the County Championship, they won six matches to finish twelfth in their eighty-sixth season in the Championship. They were eliminated in round 2 of the National Westminster Bank Trophy and at group level in the Benson & Hedges Cup. 1990 season Derbyshire played 22 games in the County Championship, one match against Cambridge University and one match against the touring New Zealanders and won seven first class matches altogether. This is a list of seasons played by Derbyshire County Cricket Club in English cricket, from the club's formation in 1870. Early years 1871–1887 Derbyshire played their first matches in 1871. For the first three years their only opponents were Lancashire. When Kent joined in 1874, by a quirk of scoring which was based on games lost, they were County Champion. The club was bedevilled by financial problems, and in 1888 the sporting press decided no longer to accord them first class status. Adrian Kuiper
Adrian Paul Kuiper (born 24 August 1959) is a former South African international cricketer who played in one international Test match and 25 One Day Internationals between 1991 and 1996. Kuiper is now a farmer at Elgin, near Grabouw in the Western Cape. Domestic career Kuiper was a middle-order batsman and medium paced bowler who began with Western Province B in 1977 before graduating to the Western Province A cricket team. He played for Western Province between 1978 and 1995, becoming captain in 1984. He then captained Boland between 1995 and 1998. He played for Derbyshire in the English County Championship in 1990. Warwickshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Warwickshire. Surrey County Cricket Club (Surrey CCC) is a first-class club in county cricket, one of eighteen in the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Surrey, including areas that now form South London. Geoff Miller
Geoffrey Miller, (born 8 September 1952) is an English former cricketer, who played in 34 Test matches and 25 One Day Internationals for the England cricket team between 1976 and 1984. He played for Derbyshire from 1973 to 1986, captaining the side from 1979 to 1981 (following the sudden resignation of David Steele after six weeks in the role), and returned in 1990 after playing for Essex between 1987 and 1989. He was an England selector from 2008 to 2013 and was appointed President of Derbyshire C.C.C. in March 2014. The cricket writer, Colin Bateman, noted, "Geoff Miller concedes that he probably enjoyed cricket too much. He did not take it as seriously as some, And when it became a rigorous, grim-faced business, he was not sorry to bow out of an eight-year Test career that never reached the peaks many expected". Bruce Roberts (cricketer)
Bruce Roberts (born 30 May 1962) is a former Zambian cricketer who played for Transvaal cricket team, Transvaal from 1982/83 to 1988/89 and for Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Derbyshire from 1984 to 1991. He made over 9000 runs in the first-class game and over 3,700 in the one day game. Roberts was born in Lusaka and educated in Zimbabwe. He began his First-class career in South Africa in 1982 with Transvaal and Transvaal B. In 1984 he began his career in the game in England when he joined Derbyshire. Roberts evolved from a lower-order batsman into a stroke-maker and occasional bowler. When Roberts played his second English season, this change in the order repaid handsomely, as he scored his maiden century. He was a major force in the Sunday league Derbyshire team which won the championship in the 1987 season, and in 1988, his Transvaal team were victorious in the Currie Cup earning him the award of South African Cricketer of the Year. Yorkshire County Cricket Club is one of 18 first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Yorkshire. Mike Atherton
Michael Andrew Atherton (born 23 March 1968) is a broadcaster, journalist and a former England international first-class cricketer. A right-handed opening batsman for Lancashire and England, and occasional leg-break bowler, he achieved the captaincy of England at the age of 25 and led the side in a record 54 Test matches. Known for his stubborn resistance during an era of hostile fast bowling, Atherton was described in 2001 as a determined defensive opener who made "batting look like trench warfare". Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Northamptonshire. Its limited overs team is called the Northants Steelbacks – a reference to the Northamptonshire Regiment which was formed in 1881. The name was supposedly a tribute to the soldiers' apparent indifference to the harsh discipline imposed by their officers.
