Department Of Industry, Energy And Technology
The Ministry of Industry, Energy and Technology is a government department in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The department is headed by a member of the provincial cabinet, typically a Member of the House of Assembly, who is chosen by the premier and formally appointed by the Lieutenant-Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador. The current Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology is Andrew Parsons. The department was formerly known as the ''Department of Mines and Energy'', however its name was changed in 2004, to Natural Resources under the government of Danny Williams. The department is responsible for the provinces energy, mines, forestry and agrifoods sectors. Due to the significance of Newfoundland and Labrador's natural resources sector the Minister of Natural Resources is considered to be one of the most high-profile positions in the Provincial Cabinet. Newfoundland and Labrador (; french: Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador; frequently abbreviated as NL) is the easternmost province of Canada, in the country's Atlantic region. The province comprises the island of Newfoundland and the continental region of Labrador, having a total size of 405,212 square kilometres (156,500 sq mi). Paul Dicks
Paul D. Dicks (born 1950) is a lawyer and former politician in Newfoundland and Labrador. He represented Humber West in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 1989 to 2001 as a Liberal. He was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador and was educated at Memorial University for undergraduate degrees in Arts and Education, and then at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia for his LL.B. Dwight Ball (born December 21, 1957) is a Canadian politician who was the 13th premier of Newfoundland and Labrador from December 14, 2015, to August 19, 2020, and an MHA. He represented the electoral district of Humber Valley in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly, and was the leader of the Liberal Party from November 17, 2013 to August 3, 2020. On January 3, 2012, Ball began his duties as Leader of the Official Opposition and interim leader of the Liberal Party. On July 5, 2013, Ball stepped down as interim leader of the Liberal Party to run for the position permanently in the 2013 leadership election, which he won. He was sworn in on December 14, 2015. Derrick Dalley , (born July 22, 1965) is a former Canadian politician in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He served as the Minister of Natural Resources in the provincial cabinet. Dalley has represented the district of The Isles of Notre Dame in the House of Assembly from 2007 until 2015. Before entering politics he worked as a guidance counselor and principal. Kathleen Mary Margaret "Kathy" Dunderdale (née Warren; born February 1952) is a politician and former MHA who served as the tenth premier of Newfoundland and Labrador from December 3, 2010, to January 24, 2014.
