Department Of Community Safety
The Department of Community Safety was a Queensland Government department established in March 2009 and dissolved in 2015. The department formed from a merger of the former Department of Emergency Services and the Department of Corrective Services. It was headquartered at Kedron in Brisbane. It consisted of the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, Emergency Management Queensland, the Queensland Corrective Services, and the Queensland Ambulance Service. Functions The Department of Community Safety was responsible for providing front line services in law enforcement, emergency services, and other community safety services. Dissolution On the 1 November 2013, the Department of Community Safety was renamed the Public Safety Business Agency and had various functions transferred to other departments and agencies. Kedron, Queensland
Kedron is a northern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Kedron had a population of 9,359 people. Geography Kedron is centred on Gympie Road and Kedron Brook. It is close to Westfield Chermside shopping centre in the neighbouring suburb of Chermside. Kedron is an inner-northern suburb that neighbours Stafford, Chermside, Wavell Heights, Wooloowin, Lutwyche, and Nundah. Despite the similarity in names, the Brisbane suburbs of Kedron and Upper Kedron are 15.3 kilometres apart. History German missionaries originally settled in the Nundah area (known as German Station) in 1838. John Mark Dempsey (born 7 April 1966) is an Australian politician currently serving as Mayor of the Bundaberg Regional Council. He previously served as the Queensland Minister for Police and Community Safety in the Newman Government and was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 2006 to 2015. Emergency Management Queensland
Emergency Management Queensland was the emergency division of the Department of Community Safety. The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service also belonged to the department. It aimed to plan and prepare for disasters as well as rescue and protect persons, property and the environment from disaster and emergency. Jack Dempsey, Minister for Police and Community Safety was responsible for the division. Functions Emergency Management Queensland was responsible for disaster preparedness, disaster awareness and the coordination of various rescue, response and recovery services in the state.
