Dental Schools Council
The Dental Schools Council represents the interests of Irish and UK dental schools as it relates to national health, wealth, knowledge acquisition through teaching, research, and the profession of dentistry. Composed of the Dean or equivalent of each dental school in the UK and Ireland, the current chair is Professor Chris Deery, Dean, School of Clinical Dentistry at the University of Sheffield. The Dental Schools Council meet three times per year in February, June and October. The Dental Schools Council History The Dental Schools Council began life as the ''Education Consultative Committee of the Dental Schools of Great Britain'' on 31 January 1931 when Mr W. Malcolm Knott (President of the British Dental Association in 1930) invited several Dental Deans to come together to discuss the formation of a Dental School Committee to discuss all matters relating to dental education. UCL Eastman Dental Institute
The UCL Eastman Dental Institute is the dental school of University College London (UCL) and an academic department of UCL's Faculty of Medical Sciences. The institute is based on Gray's Inn Road in the Bloomsbury district of London, United Kingdom, adjacent to the Eastman Dental Hospital, with which it is closely associated. The institute is the largest postgraduate dental centre in Europe, and together with the Eastman Dental Hospital forms one of the largest concentrations of oral health care specialists and research in Europe. Peninsula College Of Medicine And Dentistry
Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry (PCMD) was a Medical and Dental school in England, run in partnership with the University of Exeter, the University of Plymouth and the NHS in Devon and Cornwall. In January 2013 the school began disaggregation to form Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry and the University of Exeter Medical School. The school had campuses at the University of Plymouth, the University of Exeter, the John Bull Building (Derriford Hospital and Plymouth Science Park), the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and the Royal Cornwall Hospital. Leeds Dental Institute is a dental health facility located in the Worsley Building, Clarendon Way, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is jointly managed by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Leeds. History The institute has its origins in the dental department of the Leeds Public Dispensary which opened in May 1904. The dental department moved to the Leeds General Infirmary in October 1920 and then to its own premises in Blundell Street in 1928.
