Denmark In The Eurovision Song Contest 2002
Denmark participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with the song "Tell Me Who You Are" written by Michael Ronson. The song was performed by Malene Mortensen. The Danish broadcaster DR organised the national final ''Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2002'' in order to select the Danish entry for the 2002 contest in Tallinn, Estonia. Ten songs competed in a televised show where "Vis mig hvem du er" performed by Malene Mortensen was the winner as decided upon through two rounds of jury voting and public voting. The song was later translated from Danish to English for the Eurovision Song Contest and was titled "Tell Me Who You Are". Malene Mortensen
Malene Winther Mortensen (born 23 May 1982) is a Danish singer. She entered the Danish music scene in 2001, during the first season of ''Stjerne for en aften'', the Danish edition of '' Star for a Night''. She made it to the finals, with her rendition of Moloko's "Sing It Back". The following year, she entered the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, the Danish national pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2003 she released her debut album called ''Paradise''. The Eurovision Song Contest 2001 was the 46th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, following the country's victory at the with the song " Fly on the Wings of Love" by Olsen Brothers. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR), the contest was held at the Parken Stadium on 12 May 2001. The contest was presented by Danish television presenter Natasja Crone Back and actor Søren Pilmark. Twenty-three countries took part in the contest. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, and Slovenia returned after their relegation from the previous edition. Malta competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 in Tallinn, Estonia. The Maltese entry was selected through the Malta Song for Europe contest, where the winner was Ira Losco with the song "7th Wonder", written by Philip Vella and Gerard James Borg. Before Eurovision Malta Song for Europe 2002 Public Broadcasting Services (PBS), the Maltese broadcaster, organised a national final to select the 2002 Maltese entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. Louise Gabrielle Bobb (born 19 July 1969), known professionally as Gabrielle, is a British singer and songwriter. Bobb was born in Hackney, London. The United Kingdom held a national preselection to choose the song that would go to the Eurovision Song Contest 1973. Before Eurovision A Song for Europe 1973 The show was held on 24 February 1973 and presented by Cilla Black as part of her BBC1 series '' Cilla''. Cliff Richard performed all of the six finalists in the final, where the performances were then immediately repeated. He had previously performed one of the songs weekly in the run up to the final. Richard had been permitted to choose two songs for the shortlist of 12 entries, from which a panel including his manager and producer selected the final six. The United Kingdom held a national preselection to choose the song that would go to the Eurovision Song Contest 1968. Before Eurovision Artist selection Cilla Black had been the BBC's first choice to sing the 1968 UK entry, but she had turned it down as she did not believe any nation was likely to win back-to-back contests. As in 1967 when the UK won with Sandie Shaw, a current pop singer, Cliff Richard, was chosen to sing the song.
