Denmark was represented by Birthe Kjær, with the song " Vi maler byen rød", at the 1989 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on 6 May in Lausanne, Switzerland. Birthe Kjær (born 1 September 1948) is a Danish singer. She finished second at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 1980, 1986 and 1987, before winning in 1989, and went on to finish third at the 1989 Eurovision Song Contest in Lausanne. She also finished third at the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 1991. Gry Johansen-Meilstrup (known as Gry) (born 28 August 1964 in Copenhagen) is a Danish singer who represented her country in Eurovision Song Contest 1983 The Eurovision Song Contest 1983 was the 28th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. Peter Belli
Peter Belli (born Georg Peter Brandt; 19 June 1943 in Kiel) is a Danish singer and actor. Career Peter's debut as a singer was in 1959, for a band called ''Trefters''. In the 1960s, Belli became Denmark's first rock star, alongside his band, ''Les Rivals'', warming up for such greats as The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. In the 1970s, Belli transitioned to doing more dansktop, having several hits such as ''Bliv væk fra vort kvarter'' and ''Ingen regning''. In the same period, he started acting in a number of Danish movies. In 1981 he had a hit with "Hvis det er sandt" from his same year album "Er det sådan?". Flemming "Bamse" Duun Jørgensen (7 February 19471 January 2011) was a Danish pop singer and actor, best known as lead singer of the band Bamses Venner (''Teddy (Bear)'s Friends''). During the recent years he also released some solo albums, the latest being ''Tæt på'' (''Close-up'') from 2010. Bamse was part of the Danish music scene for more than 35 years, and sold more than 3.5 million albums. "Vi maler byen rød" (; "We're painting the town red") was the entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989, written by Søren Bundgaard (music) and Keld Heick (lyrics) and performed in Danish by Birthe Kjær. Dansk Melodi Grand Prix (), also known as Melodi Grand Prix or simply DMGP, is an annual music competition organised by the Danish public broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR) since 1957, which determines the for the Eurovision Song Contest. The festival has produced three Eurovision winners and fourteen top-five placings.
