Denham Ministry
The Denham Ministry was the 26th ministry of the Government of Queensland and was led by Premier Digby Denham, who led the Ministerialist party consisting of a mixture of liberals and conservatives. It succeeded the Kidston Ministry on 7 February 1911. The ministry was followed by the Ryan Ministry on 1 June 1915 after the government was defeated by the Labor Party at the 1915 state election on 22 May, at which several of the ministers including Denham himself lost their seats. On 7 February 1911, the Governor, Sir William MacGregor, designated eight principal executive offices of the Government, and appointed the following Members of the Parliament of Queensland to the Ministry as follows: : John Appel resigned from the Ministry after aligning with the new Farmers' Union party. The Ministry
In constitutional usage in Commonwealth realms, a ministry (usually preceded by the definite article, i.e., the ministry) is a collective body of government ministers led by a head of government, such as a prime minister. It is described by Oxford Dictionaries as "a period of government under one prime minister". Although the term "cabinet" can in some circumstances be a synonym, a ministry can be a broader concept which might include office-holders who do not participate in cabinet meetings. A home, or domicile, is a space used as a permanent or semi-permanent residence for one or many humans, and sometimes various companion animals. John White (9 November 1853 – 13 June 1922) was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Early life White was born at Dumbarton, Scotland, the son of Alexander and his wife Ellen (née Anderson). He was a company director and involved in several businesses. James Tolmie (Australian Politician)
James Tolmie (25 July 1862 – 6 April 1939) was a member of the Parliament of Queensland, newspaper proprietor, and soldier. History James Tolmie was born on the ship ''Registan'' in Moreton Bay, just outside Brisbane, Queensland on 25 July 1862, to Roderick Tolmie and his wife Helen (née Macrae), who were coming from Scotland to Queensland. The eldest of a family of nine children, he was educated at the South State School, Toowoomba, and began as a pupil teacher in 1877. In 1894 he became editor, with a half-share interest, of the ''Darling Downs Gazette'', a position he held until that paper's amalgamation with the ''Toowoomba Chronicle'' in 1922. Kenneth Grant (politician)
Kenneth Macdonald "Ken" Grant (September 1866 – 13 August 1922) was a telegraphist and member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly in Australia. Biography Grant was born in Geelong, Victoria, to parents William Grant and his wife Jessie (née McDonald) and attended Brisbane Normal School. He began his working life as a cadet in the Post and Telegraphs Department and became a telegraphist at the Rockhampton Post Office and Railway Traffic Office. Later on he was a director of the Blair Athol Land and Timber Co. and the principal of K.M. Grant and Co. Ltd. In his younger days he was a keen sportsman and president of the Central Queensland Rugby League, and a patron of the Rockhampton Jockey Club and the Rockhampton Bowls Club. James Blair (Australian Judge)
Sir James William Blair (16 May 187018 November 1944) was an Australian politician, lawyer and judge. He was a successful politician, being elected to the Queensland Parliament on several occasions. He held the office of Attorney-General of Queensland and was also the Minister for Mines and introduced many successful law reforms measures in Queensland. In latter life, he took up an appointment as a judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland and went on to become the Chief Justice of that court. Walter Paget
Walter Trueman Paget (7 February 1854 – 23 December 1930) was a farmer and politician in Queensland, Australia. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. Biography Paget was born in Hagley, Worcestershire, the son of Arthur Paget and his wife Esther (née Gray). After his arrival in Australia in the early 1870s, he, along with his brothers, J.G. and Arthur Paget, selected land at Nindaroo, now a suburb of modern-day Mackay. J.G. Paget soon drowned in the Pioneer River when crossing the river on horseback. The other brothers first engaged in maize and general farming but amalgamated the blocks they had selected and entered the sugar industry which was in its infancy in the Mackay area. The brothers then erected their own mill and began crushing their own cane as well as the cane of the local neighbouring farms. The mill continued until the 1890s when it was closed.
