The Democratic Party is a provincial conservative and liberal party in Mendoza, Argentina. It was founded in 1931. History and principles Since the return of the democracy in 1983, the party has been the third political force in Mendoza, except in 1999 when it won the second position in the elections. For many years it was led by former national deputy and candidate for governor of the province Carlos Balter. In 2006, the president of the Democratic Party and national deputy, Omar De Marchi, asked "forgiveness" for the participation of leaders of this party during the last dictatorship. National Democratic Party (Argentina)
The National Democratic Party ( es, Partido Demócrata Nacional, PDN) was a conservative political party in Argentina created in 1931. It was generally known simply as Conservative Party ( es, Partido Conservador). Along with the ''Antipersonalist'' Radical Civic Union (UCR-A) and the Independent Socialist Party (PSI) it was a part of the Concordancia, a coalition government that ruled between 1932 and 1943, a period of Argentine history known as the "Infamous Decade", characterised by massive voter fraud. Among its leading figures were Robustiano Patrón Costas, Julio Argentino Pascual Roca, Manuel Fresco and Rodolfo Moreno. Ramón S. The Constitution (1916) of Mendoza Province, Argentina, states that the Executive (government), executive power of the province will be led by a citizen chosen as a governor by the people for a four-year term, and not allowed to be re-elected for the immediately following term. Before it was constituted as a province in 1920, Mendoza Province was known as the Province of Cuyo. Before 1813, it was part of Córdoba Province (Argentina), Córdoba Province. ( en, Together for Change) is a centre-right political coalition in Argentina. It was created in 2015 as Cambiemos ( en, Let's Change), and renamed in 2019. It is composed of Republican Proposal, Radical Civic Union, Civic Coalition ARI and United Republicans. Rodolfo Alejandro Suarez (born 20 April 1963) is an Argentine Radical Civic Union politician who is currently serving as governor of Mendoza Province, since 10 December 2019. Previously, from 2014 to 2019, he was ''intendente'' (mayor) of the City of Mendoza, having assumed office following the death of then-mayor Víctor Fayad. Suarez wanted to reform the Constitution, which has not been updated for more than 100 years. The Radical Civic Union ( es, Unión Cívica Radical, UCR) is a centrist and social-liberal political party in Argentina. It has been ideologically heterogeneous, ranging from social liberalism to social democracy. The UCR is a member of the Socialist International. Founded in 1891 by radical liberals, it is the oldest political party active in Argentina after the Liberal Party of Corrientes. Ricardo Hipólito López Murphy (born 10 August 1951) is an Argentine economist, academic and politician. He served as Minister of Defense and Minister of Economy during the presidency of Fernando de la Rúa. His time at the helm of the economy portfolio lasted only 15 days, as he was forced to leave office after announcing an unpopular austerity plan. Alfredo Cornejo (born 20 March 1962) is an Argentine politician. As president of its national committee, he leads the Radical Civic Union (UCR). He was Governor of Mendoza Province from 2015 to 2019. From 2019 to 2021 he was a National Deputy, and since 2021, he has been a National Senator for Mendoza. Biography Alfredo Cornejo studied political sciences at the National University of Cuyo.
