The Democratic Party is a provincial conservative and liberal party in Mendoza, Argentina. It was founded in 1931. History and principles Since the return of the democracy in 1983, the party has been the third political force in Mendoza, except in 1999 when it won the second position in the elections. For many years it was led by former national deputy and candidate for governor of the province Carlos Balter. In 2006, the president of the Democratic Party and national deputy, Omar De Marchi, asked "forgiveness" for the participation of leaders of this party during the last dictatorship. The Democratic Party promised to strengthen the role of the party in Cambiemos, which governs the province with Alfredo Cornejo. The National Democratic Party ( es, Partido Demócrata Nacional, PDN) was a conservative political party in Argentina created in 1931. It was generally known simply as Conservative Party ( es, Partido Conservador). Along with the ''Antipersonalist'' Radical Civic Union (UCR-A) and the Independent Socialist Party (PSI) it was a part of the Concordancia, a coalition government that ruled between 1932 and 1943, a period of Argentine history known as the "Infamous Decade", characterised by massive voter fraud. Rodolfo Alejandro Suarez (born 20 April 1963) is an Argentine Radical Civic Union politician who is currently serving as governor of Mendoza Province, since 10 December 2019. Previously, from 2014 to 2019, he was ''intendente'' (mayor) of the City of Mendoza, having assumed office following the death of then-mayor Víctor Fayad. The Radical Civic Union ( es, Unión Cívica Radical, UCR) is a centrist and social-liberal political party in Argentina. It has been ideologically heterogeneous, ranging from social liberalism to social democracy. The UCR is a member of the Socialist International. He served as Minister of Defense and Minister of Economy during the presidency of Fernando de la Rúa. Alfredo Cornejo (born 20 March 1962) is an Argentine politician. As president of its national committee, he leads the Radical Civic Union (UCR). He was Governor of Mendoza Province from 2015 to 2019.
