Delmira Agustini Medal
The Delmira Agustini Medal is a civil decoration of Uruguay whose purpose is to honor those citizens, natural or legal, and foreign personalities who contribute or have contributed significantly to culture and the arts who, in the opinion of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay, deserve such recognition. The medal was created on 4 January 2013 and was named after Uruguayan poet Delmira Agustini. History The Delmira Agustini Medal was created by Law No. 19,050 of 4 January 2013, which also put in charge of the Ministry of Education and Culture the decision of who will be awarded, to perform the presentation of the decoration and also ordered that the Executive Branch through the Ministry of Education and Culture regulate all other matters related to the medal. Jaime Roos
Jaime Roos (born November 12, 1953 in Montevideo) is an Uruguayan singer, composer and record producer. In 2000, he won a Silver Condor Award for Best Score Musician in El Amateur. He has French blood from his father's side. His grandfather migrated from Germany at the end of 19th century. The system of orders, decorations and medals of Uruguay consist of both military and civilian honours presented by the authorities of Uruguay with the purpose of recognize and rewards actions or services considered praiseworthy. Introduction Uruguayan Constitution provides in its article 85 section 13th that "ruling public honors due to great services" is matter of competence of the General Assembly. To members of National Army, in matter of decoration usage the basic rule is the Army's Regulation on Uniforms. Lisa Block de Behar (Montevideo, Uruguay) is an Uruguayan professor of Linguistics and researcher in Literary Theory, Comparative Literature and Communication media. She holds a PhD from École des hautes études en sciences sociales in Paris where she wrote a thesis about the Rhetoric of Silence. She was the director at the School of Communication, Universidad de la República, Uruguay, and professor of Semiotics and Theory of interpretation at the same Institution. Igor Yebra Iglesias (born August 1, 1974, Bilbao) is a Spanish freelance ballet dancer. Early life Igor Yebra was born in Bilbao, Spain, and was encouraged to start dancing by his parents, two music and dance enthusiasts who named him Igor in honour of the title character in Borodin's opera. Surrounded by ballet and music during his childhood, primarily due to his parents' dance school, Igor never considered becoming a professional dancer and, just like other Spanish children, he dreamed of being a football player. Ida Vitale
Ida Vitale (born 2 November 1923) is a Uruguayan poet, translator, essayist, lecturer and literary critic. Life She played an important role in the Uruguayan art movement known as the 'Generation of 45': Carlos Maggi, Manuel Flores Mora, Ángel Rama (who also became her second husband), Emir Rodríguez Monegal, Idea Vilariño, Carlos Real de Azúa, Carlos Martínez Moreno, Mario Arregui, Mauricio Muller, José Pedro Díaz, Amanda Berenguer, Tola Invernizzi, Mario Benedetti, Líber Falco, Juan Cunha, Juan Carlos Onetti, among others. Vitale fled to Mexico City in 1973 for political asylum after a military junta took power in Uruguay. Linda Kohen (born 28 October 1923) is an Italian-born Uruguayan painter with a long international career. Biography In 1939, faced with the rejection of Italian racial laws for them, Kohen left Italy with her family and moved to South America. They lived in Buenos Aires and São Paulo and in 1940, the family settled in Uruguay, where Linda began her career. Danilo Ángel Astori Saragosa (born April 23, 1940) is a Uruguayan retired social democratic politician who served as the 15th vice president of Uruguay from 2010 to 2015 under President José Mujica. Julio Bocca
Julio Adrián Lojo Bocca (born March 6, 1967) is an Argentine ballet dancer. Bocca spent twenty years as a principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre. From 2010 to 2018 he served as artistic director of the National Ballet of Uruguay, administered by SODRE, the country's broadcasting and cultural authority. Bocca has been called one of the most popular Argentine dancers of all time.
