Delhi Travellers
The Delhi Travellers are a junior hockey team based in Delhi, Ontario, Canada. The Travellers play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History Prior to 1966, the Delhi franchise was a member of the Shamrock Junior D Hockey League. In 1966, they jumped to the Southern Counties Junior D Hockey League. In 1972, the team changed their name from the Rockets to the Flames. The 1980-81 season saw the Flames raise to the heights of provincial recognition. They finished second overall in the Southern league standings with 21 wins, seven losses, and six ties, a fair distance behind the first place St. George Dukes. Once in the playoffs, the Flames took the Southern league by storm and won their first ever league championship. Provincial Junior Hockey League
The Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) is a Canadian junior ice hockey league spanning parts of Southern Ontario. The PJHL is the third tier of the Ontario Hockey Association and is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation and Hockey Canada. The league was formed in 2016 with the merging of eight Junior C leagues. PJHL teams compete for the Clarence Schmalz Cup. History In the works since 2014, it was announced in the spring of 2016 that the eight Junior C leagues of the Ontario Hockey Association would merge for the 2016-17 season to create the Provincial Junior Hockey League. The union was in an effort to streamline rules across the classification and to promote growth and development. Cinderella (sports)
In sports, the terms Cinderella, "Cinderella story", and Cinderella team are used to refer to situations in which competitors achieve far greater success than would reasonably have been best expected. Cinderella stories tend to gain much media and fan attention as they move closer to the tournament final game. The term comes from the well-known European folk tale of '' Cinderella'', which embodies a myth-element of unjust oppression and triumphant reward, when the title character's life of poverty is suddenly changed to one of remarkable fortune. Exeter Hawks
The Exeter Hawks are a Junior ice hockey team based in Exeter, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The Exeter Hawks were founded in 1961 as members of the Shamrock Junior D Hockey League. In the late sixties, the Hawks jumped to the Bluewater Junior Hockey League for a short stint. In 1969, the Shamrock league changed its name to the Western Junior D Hockey League. In 1970–71, the Hawks won the Western League and made it all the way to the OHA provincial championship. They met another junior team from Haliburton, Ontario from the South Central Junior D Hockey League. Haliburton defeated the Hawks 4-games-to-3. A season later, the Hawks again won the Western League and found themselves against an Eastern Ontario representative from Bancroft, Ontario in the provincial final. Thamesford Trojans
The Thamesford Trojans are a Junior ice hockey team based in Thamesford, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. They currently own the Exeter Hawks. History The Thamesford Trojans were founded in 1976 as members of the Western Ontario Junior D Hockey League. In 1988, the league absorbed its competitor leagues and create a large "super league" that was renamed the OHA Junior Development League in 1991. The Trojans from the 1989–90 until the 1991–92 season won three straight OHA Cups, the provincial championship. In 1990, the Trojans fought all the way to the league finals. In the finals they met the Lucan Irish. After a hard-fought battle, the Trojans came out on top to win the series 4-games-to-2 and win their first ever OHA Cup. The North Middlesex Stars are a Junior ice hockey team based in Parkhill, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association. History The team was founded in 1992 as the Parkhill Stars. After only one season, the team name was changed to the North Middlesex Stars. The early years were rough on the North Middlesex Stars. In the team's first thirteen seasons, only 2 years did they have winning records. In the summer of 2005, the team was on the verge of implosion. Paris Mounties
The Paris Mounties are a junior hockey team based in Paris, Ontario, Canada. They were members of the Midwestern Junior C Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association until the 2016-17 season when it became the Pat Dougherty Division of the Central Conference of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Mounties came about in the wake of the folding of the Intermediate "B" Paris '29ers. After twenty-one seasons in the Niagara & District Junior C Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey Association realigned and they were placed in the Midwestern Junior C Hockey League. Summer of 2016 the eight junior "C" hockey leagues in Southern Ontario amalgamated into a single Provincial Junior Hockey League with the individual leagues becoming divisions. The Midwestern Junior C Hockey League (MWJCHL) was a Canadian Junior ice hockey league in Southwestern Ontario. The MWJCHL was a member of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. Its champion competed for the Clarence Schmalz Cup, the OHA Junior C championship. In the summer of 2016, the MWJCHL joined the Provincial Junior Hockey League. History The Midwestern Junior C Hockey League formed in the summer of 2013 due to the realignment of the severely overlapping Southern Ontario Junior Hockey League and Niagara & District Junior C Hockey League. Originally the NDJCHL was going to proceed with 18 teams, but the decision was made to divide the league into two leagues based on divisional lines.
