The Delegation of the European Union to Armenia ( hy, Եվրոպական միության պատվիրակությունը Հայաստանում, translit=Yevropakan miut’yan patvirakut’yuny Hayastanum) is the diplomatic mission of the European Union in Armenia. Its headquarters are located in Armenia's capital, Yerevan. History The Delegation of the European Union to Armenia was established on 21 February 2012 to facilitate Armenia–European Union relations and officially represents the EU in Armenia. Since 17 September 2019, the Ambassador of the Delegation of the EU to Armenia is Andrea Wiktorin. Functions The EU Delegation is responsible for further developing relations between the EU and Armenia, including in the areas of trade, economic, and political relations. There are eight recognised candidates for membership of the European Union: Turkey (since 1999), North Macedonia (2005), Montenegro (2010), Serbia (2012), Albania (2014), Moldova (2022), Ukraine (2022), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (2022). The EU Strategy for the South Caucasus is a long term strategy which is directed to create a secure political, economical and social environment next to the eastern borders of the European Union. The European Union Monitoring Capacity to Armenia (EUMCAP) is a European Union civilian deployment in the territory of the Republic of Armenia that was agreed on 6 October 2022 and officially became operational on 20 October 2022. Mandate The stated aim of the mission is to contribute to the border commissions work on boundary delimitation of the international border of Armenia and Azerbaijan, facilitate the restoration of peace and security in the area, and to build overall confidence between the two states. Euronest Parliamentary Assembly
The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly is the inter-parliamentary forum in which members of the European Parliament and the national parliaments of Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia participate and forge closer political and economic ties with the European Union. It was established in 2011 by the European Commission as a component of the Eastern Partnership. After the elections in Belarus in 2010 were declared as flawed by the OSCE, the membership of Belarus in Euronest was automatically suspended. Belarus is welcome to re-join the Assembly once political requirements have been fulfilled. In 2015, Azerbaijan's membership was suspended due to the European Union's criticism of human rights abuses by the government.
