Defense Soap
Defense Soap is a company that markets and sells soap, barrier cream, equipment cleaners, sanitary wipes, and essential oils intended to address grappling specific cleanliness issues. Defense Soap (Product) Defense Soap is a brand of soap (available in both bar and shower gel forms) created by Guy Sako to prevent outbreaks of skin infection on his wrestling team. Since then the soap has been marketed to wrestlers, Judoka, Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, and Mixed Martial Artists. Both the bar and shower gel versions of this soap are made with tea tree oil and eucalyptus extract, and are triclosan free. The manufacturers claim that Defense soap is effective in preventing MRSA, Staph, Impetigo, Ringworm, and Herpes. Defense Soap has been accepted as the official soap of USA Judo. Barrier Cream
A barrier cream is a topical formulation used in industrial applications and as a cosmetic to place a physical barrier between the skin and contaminants that may irritate the skin (contact dermatitis or occupational dermatitis). There are many other terms for creams designed to protect skin from harmful substances, including skin protective creams, pre-work creams, antisolvent gels, protective ointments, and shielding lotions. Three classes of barrier creams are used: water repellent creams, water-soluble creams, and creams designed for special applications. A staphylococcal infection or staph infection is an infection caused by members of the '' Staphylococcus'' genus of bacteria. Lanolin
Lanolin (from Latin 'wool', and 'oil'), also called wool yolk, wool wax, or wool grease, is a wax secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals. Lanolin used by humans comes from domestic sheep breeds that are raised specifically for their wool. Herpes
Herpes simplex is a viral infection caused by the herpes simplex virus. Infections are categorized based on the part of the body infected. Oral herpes involves the face or mouth. It may result in small blisters in groups often called cold sores or fever blisters or may just cause a sore throat. Genital herpes, often simply known as herpes, involves the genitalia. It may have minimal symptoms or form blisters that break open and result in small ulcers. These typically heal over two to four weeks. Tingling or shooting pains may occur before the blisters appear. Herpes cycles between periods of active disease followed by periods without symptoms. Ringworm
Dermatophytosis, also known as ringworm, is a fungal infection of the skin. Typically it results in a red, itchy, scaly, circular rash. Hair loss may occur in the area affected. Symptoms begin four to fourteen days after exposure. Multiple areas can be affected at a given time. About 40 types of fungus can cause ringworm. They are typically of the ''Trichophyton'', ''Microsporum'', or ''Epidermophyton'' type. Risk factors include using public showers, contact sports such as wrestling, excessive sweating, contact with animals, obesity, and poor immune function. Impetigo is a bacterial infection that involves the superficial skin. The most common presentation is yellowish crusts on the face, arms, or legs. Less commonly there may be large blisters which affect the groin or armpits. The lesions may be painful or itchy. Fever is uncommon. It is typically due to either ''Staphylococcus aureus'' or ''Streptococcus pyogenes''. Soap
Soap is a salt of a fatty acid used in a variety of cleansing and lubricating products.
