Chester's Dee Radio is an Independent Local Radio station serving the city of Chester and surrounding areas. The station is independent and locally owned and broadcasts from studios at Riverside Innovation Centre. As of March 2023, the station broadcasts to a weekly audience of 17,000, according to RAJAR. History The station launched, as Dee 106.3, on 1 March 2003 from its original studio premises at Chantry Court, Chester. In June 2009, the station's owners purchased a neighbouring local radio station, Silk 106.9, based in Macclesfield. In March 2013, Dee 106.3 launched a second station, Dee on DAB, on the MuxCo DAB Digital Radio multiplex serving North East Wales and West Cheshire. Chester
Chester is a cathedral city and the county town of Cheshire, England. It is located on the River Dee, close to the English–Welsh border. FM Broadcasting
FM broadcasting is a method of radio broadcasting using frequency modulation (FM). Invented in 1933 by American engineer Edwin Armstrong, wide-band FM is used worldwide to provide high fidelity sound over broadcast radio. Silk is a natural protein fiber, some forms of which can be woven into textiles. The protein fiber of silk is composed mainly of fibroin and is produced by certain insect larvae to form cocoons. The best-known silk is obtained from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm ''Bombyx mori'' reared in captivity (sericulture). Independent Local Radio is the collective name given to commercial radio stations in the United Kingdom. Radio Joint Audience Research Limited (RAJAR) was established in 1992 to operate a single audience measurement system for the radio industry in the United Kingdom. RAJAR is jointly owned by the BBC and RadioCentre. RAJAR's predecessor was called Joint Industry Committee on Radio Audience Research (JICRAR). Prior to this, the BBC and RadioCentre's predecessor CRCA carried out their own measurements independently of each other. Voice-tracking, also called cyber jocking and referred to sometimes colloquially as a robojock, is a technique employed by some radio stations in radio broadcasting to produce the illusion of a live disc jockey or announcer sitting in the radio studios of the station when one is not actually present. It is one of the notable effects of radio homogenization. Background Strictly speaking, voice-tracking refers to the process of a disc jockey prerecording his or her on-air "patter." It is then combined with songs, commercials, and other elements in order to produce a product sounding like a live air shift. Chester Football Club is an association football club based in Chester. They are currently members of and play at the Deva Stadium.
