The district is almost entirely in Winneshiek County, with a small portion in Allamakee County. In addition to Decorah, the census-designated place of Burr Oak is in the district boundary. Rob Sand
Robert Sand (born August 12, 1982) is an American lawyer and politician who has served as the 33rd Iowa State Auditor since 2019. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Sand was assistant attorney general of Iowa from 2010 to 2017. In 2018, he ran for state auditor, defeating Republican incumbent Mary Mosiman. After considering a run for governor of Iowa in 2022, Sand opted to run for reelection. Sand was reelected in 2022, becoming the only statewide elected Democrat in Iowa. Early life Sand is from Decorah, Iowa. His mother, Leslie, worked as a physical therapist while his father, Kevin, was a doctor. Georgann Johnson
Georgann Johnson (born Georgia Anne Johnson, August 15, 1926 – June 4, 2018) was an American stage, film, and television actress. She was also known as Georgiann Johnson and Georgianne Johnson. Early years Johnson was born in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of George and Helene (Hjerleid) Johnson. She attended Decorah High School, Luther College, and Northwestern University before becoming an actress in 1952. Stage In 1953, Johnson was cast with her future husband, actor Stanley Prager, in the Broadway revival of ''Room Service'' starring Jack Lemmon. Johnson and Prager wed in 1956. Josey Jewell (born December 25, 1994) is an American football linebacker for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Iowa. Early years Jewell attended Decorah High School in Decorah, Iowa, where he played high school football as a linebacker and running back. Jewell helped his team appear in back-to-back 3A State Title Games, defeating Sioux City Bishop Heelan by a score of 49–21 in the 2012 game. The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) is the governing body for girls' junior and senior high school sports in the U.S. state of Iowa. The association promotes and regulates interscholastic sports among its member schools. ''The Des Moines Register'' is the daily morning newspaper of Des Moines, Iowa. History Early period The first newspaper in Des Moines was the ''Iowa Star''. In July 1849, Barlow Granger began the paper in an abandoned log cabin by the junction of the Des Moines and Raccoon River. In 1854, ''The Star'' became the ''Iowa Statesman'' which was also a Democratic paper. In 1857, ''The Statesman'' became the ''Iowa State Journal'', which published 3 times per week. The Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) is the regulating body for male Iowa high school interscholastic athletics and is a full member of the National Federation of State High School Associations. North Winneshiek Community School District
The North Winneshiek Community School District was a public school district in unincorporated northern Winneshiek County, Iowa, with a Decorah address. At the end of the district's existence, it only served grades Pre-K through 8th. The enrollment for the 2015–2016 school year was 126 students.
