''Decade in the Sun: Best of Stereophonics'' is a compilation album of greatest hits by Stereophonics. Stereophonics
Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band formed in 1992 in the village of Cwmaman in the Cynon Valley, Wales. The band consists of Kelly Jones (lead vocals, lead guitar, keyboards), Richard Jones (bass guitar, harmonica, backing vocals), Adam Zindani (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Jamie Morrison (drums, percussion) and touring member Tony Kirkham (keyboards). The group previously included Stuart Cable (1992–2003) and then Javier Weyler (2004–2012) on drums. Stereophonics have released twelve studio albums, including eight UK number one albums. A successful compilation album, ''Decade in the Sun'', was released in November 2008 and charted at number two on the UK Album Chart. Madame Helga
"Madame Helga" is a song by Welsh rock band Stereophonics from their fourth studio album, '' You Gotta Go There to Come Back'' (2003). It was inspired by the band's stay at Helga's Folly while they were on tour in Sri Lanka in 2002. The folly is owned by Helga Desilva Blow Perera, from whom the title "Madame Helga" originated. Released as a single on 19 May 2003, the song reached number four on the UK Singles Chart and number 15 on the Irish Singles Chart the same month. "Madame Helga" is track three on ''You Gotta Go There to Come Back''. There is also a live version of the track on the ''Live from Dakota'' album. The music video was directed by Robert Hales. Despite being one of the band's highest-charting singles, it is not included on the standard edition of the band's 2008 greatest hits album, '' Decade in the Sun: Best of Stereophonics''. Local Boy In The Photograph
"Local Boy in the Photograph" is the first single by rock band Stereophonics. The song is taken from their debut album, ''Word Gets Around'' and was released on 17 March 1997. The song reached number 51 in the UK Singles Chart. On 9 February 1998, the song was re-released and reached number 14 on the same chart. Title and lyrics During an interview with Sky Arts HD after his performance at the Hay Festival in June 2010, Kelly Jones explained the meaning of a few of his songs and said that "Local Boy in the Photograph" was based on the true story of local boy Paul David Boggis, who was killed by a train travelling between Cwmbach and Aberdare. "Just Looking" is a song by Welsh rock band Stereophonics, issued as the second single from their second album, ''Performance and Cocktails'' (1999). It was released on 22 February 1999, reaching number four on the UK Singles Chart and number 18 in Ireland. In 2022, it was certified gold by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) for sales and streams of over 400,000. Stuart Cable
Stuart James Cable (19 May 1970 – 7 June 2010) was a Welsh rock drummer and broadcaster, best known as the original drummer for the band Stereophonics. Early life Cable was born in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, on 19 May 1970. When he was 10, his father died. Thereafter, Cable and his elder brother, Paul, were raised by their mother Mabel (born 1930) on her own. Cable grew up in the close-knit village of Cwmaman near Aberdare, He attended Blaengwawr Comprehensive School with his friend, Stereophonics singer-songwriter and guitarist Kelly Jones, who also lived on the same street. Richard Jones (Stereophonics)
Richard Jones (born 23 May 1974) is a Welsh bassist, pianist and backing vocalist from Cwmaman, Wales, for the Welsh post-Britpop rock band Stereophonics, playing alongside Kelly Jones (no relation), Adam Zindani and Jamie Morrison. Jones grew up in Cwmaman, an old mining village in South Wales. Richard originally formed the band with Kelly Jones and Stuart Cable, playing under the name "Tragic Love Company". Jones played to his largest audience on 2 July 2005 as the group appeared at the Live 8 concert, in Hyde Park, London. Jones is often noted for his tattoos, and claims; "I got my first tattoo done in one of the Welsh Valleys when I was 16 or 17. Michael David d'Abo (born 1 March 1944) is an English singer and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist of Manfred Mann from 1966 to their dissolution in 1969, and as the composer of the songs "Handbags and Gladrags" and " Build Me Up Buttercup", the latter of which was a hit for The Foundations. With Manfred Mann, d'Abo achieved six top twenty hits on the UK Singles Chart including " Semi-Detached, Suburban Mr. James", "Ha! Ha! Said The Clown" and the chart topper " Mighty Quinn".
