Deb Richard
Deb Richard (born June 13, 1963) is an American former professional golfer who was a member of the LPGA Tour for twenty years during the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Amateur career Richard was born in Abbeville, Louisiana in 1963, and raised in Manhattan, Kansas. She first found success as an amateur golfer by winning the Kansas state high school golf championship three consecutive years for Manhattan High School (1979–1981). She followed by winning the Kansas Women's Amateur the next two years (1982, 1983). In 1984, Richard won the prestigious U.S. Women's Amateur; a few months later she was part of the U.S. team that won the Espirito Santo Trophy in Hong Kong. While competing for coach Mimi Ryan's Florida Gators women's golf team at the University of Florida from 1982 to 1985, she won seven tournaments including three consecutive Southeastern Conference (SEC) individual championships. United States Women's Open Championship (golf)
The U.S. Women's Open, one of 15 national golf championships conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA), is the oldest of the LPGA Tour's five major championships, which includes the Chevron Championship, Women's PGA Championship, Women's Open Championship, and The Evian Championship. The Women's PGA Championship (branded as the KPMG Women's PGA Championship for sponsorship reasons) is a women's professional golf tournament. First held in 1955, it is one of five majors on the LPGA Tour. It is not recognized as a major by the Ladies European Tour, which does not recognize any of the three majors played in the United States. The Chevron Championship is a professional women's golf tournament. An event on the LPGA Tour, it is one of the tour's five major championships, and has traditionally been the first of the season since its elevation to major status in 1983. The Safeco Classic (often styled as the SAFECO Classic) was a women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour in the Seattle area, sponsored by Safeco Insurance. It was played 18 times, from 1982 to 1999, aMeridian Valley Country Clubin Kent, Washington, usually in mid-September, the week following the Safeway Classic in Portland. The Giant Eagle LPGA Classic was an official golf tournament on the LPGA Tour held in the Youngstown, Ohio area. From its beginnings in 1990 until 1992, it was known as The Phar-Mor in Youngstown and was held at Squaw Creek Country Club in Vienna Township, Ohio. It became the Youngstown-Warren LPGA Classic in 1993 and was held at Avalon Lakes Golf Club in Warren, Ohio until 2000. Wegmans LPGA was women's professional golf tournament on the LPGA Tour. It was played from 1977 to 2009 at the Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, New York.
