Notability (people)
Notability is the property of being worthy of notice, having fame, or being considered to be of a high degree of interest, significance, or distinction. It also refers to the capacity to be such. Yabezi Kiiza
Yabezi Kiiza (20 January 1938 – 1 August 2016) was a Ugandan politician and civil engineer. He served as the 13th Prime Minister of Bunyoro, one of Uganda's traditional kingdoms, under Omukama Solomon Iguru I from 2009 to 2012. Kiiza was a civil engineer. He was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of Bunyoro in 2007. He became the kingdom's Prime Minister in March 2009 following the firing of predecessor, Prime Minister Emmanuel Aliba Kiiza. Kiiza stepped down as Bunyoro's Prime Minister in January 2012, citing declining health, including diabetes and high blood pressure. Kiiza submitted his letter of resignation on 5 January 2012, and retired from office by the end of January. General Confederation Of Labour Of The Argentines
The CGTA (''CGT de los Argentinos'', or General Confederation of Labour of the Argentine) was an offshoot of the General Confederation of Labour created during the Normalisation Congress of the CGT of 28–30 March 1968, and which lasted until 1972. Behind the figure of the graphist Raimundo Ongaro (also close to the film movement ''Grupo Cine Liberación''), it gathered opponents to the "participationists" (the latter including Augusto Vandor, then leader of the CGT, José Ignacio Rucci, José Alonso, etc.) who supported collaboration with Juan Carlos Onganía's military dictatorship (1966–1970). The CGTA gathered many unionist delegates who refused to participate to the Normalisation Congress, opposing collaboration with the junta. Raimundo Ongaro
Raimundo José Ongaro (13 February 1924̣ – 1 August 2016) was an Argentine union leader. He was secretary general of the General Confederation of Labour of the Argentines (CGTA) between 1968 and 1974. Early career and rise to prominence Ongaro was born to a middle-class family of Italian Argentines from the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, in the Argentine seashore city of Mar del Plata in 1924. Fluent in Latin and schooled in music composition, Ongaro became an apprenticed Printing, graphist and was eventually hired at COGTAL, one of Argentina's largest publishing cooperatives. Becoming active in the Buenos Aires Printworkers' Federation (FGB), the Revolución Argentina, 1966 coup d'état against President Arturo Illia and its resulting advent of anti-labor policies led Ongaro to remove FGB leader Osvaldo Vigna in a coup of his own, that November. Ojibwe
The Ojibwe, Ojibwa, Chippewa, or Saulteaux are an Anishinaabe people in what is currently southern Canada, the northern Midwestern United States, and Northern Plains. According to the U.S. census, in the United States Ojibwe people are one of the largest tribal populations among Native American peoples. In Canada, they are the second-largest First Nations population, surpassed only by the Cree. They are one of the most numerous Indigenous Peoples north of the Rio Grande. The Ojibwe population is approximately 320,000 people, with 170,742 living in the United States , and approximately 160,000 living in Canada. In the United States, there are 77,940 mainline Ojibwe; 76,760 Saulteaux; and 8,770 Mississauga, organized in 125 bands. In Canada, they live from western Quebec to eastern British Columbia. Jim Northrup (writer)
Jim Northrup (April 28, 1943 – August 1, 2016) was an Anishinaabe ( Native American) newspaper columnist, poet, performer, and political commentator from the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation in Minnesota. His Anishinaabe name was "Chibenashi" (from ''Chi-bineshiinh'' "Big little-bird"). Summary Northrup's regular column, the ''Fond du Lac Follies'', was syndicated through several Native American papers, such as ''The Circle, The Native American Press'' and ''News From Indian Country''. It won many awards (see below) and was known for a warm humour with a sharply political undertone. Northrup often told stories through the perspective of his immediate family, most of whom, like he did, live a traditional Anishinaabe lifestyle and uses a folksy style to make points about United States-Native American interactions. Louis Marriott
Louis Marriott (22 May 1935 – 1 August 2016) was a Jamaican actor, director, writer, broadcaster, the executive officer of the Michael Manley Foundation, and member of the Performing Right Society, Jamaica Federation of Musicians, and founding member of the Jamaica Association of Dramatic Artists. Marriott was born on the Old Pound Road, Saint Andrew, Jamaica, the son of Egbert Marriott and Edna Irene Thompson-Marriott. He was educated at Jamaica College.
