Death Letter (EP)
''Death Letter'' is an extended play by the Canadian post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. The EP was released on December 4, 2012. ''Death Letter'' contains songs from their entire discography reworked for acoustic guitar. Of the six songs on the EP, 4 are from their last full-length album, ''Old Crows/Young Cardinals''. It was the band's last release before their break up, and serves as an accompaniment to their farewell tour that took place in December 2012. Writing and recording ''Death Letter'' was presumably recorded sometime prior to the band's farewell tour, which spanned several cities in 15 shows. The EP features reworked songs from Alexisonfire's previous albums, specifically ''Old Crows/Young Cardinals'', ''Crisis (Alexisonfire album), Crisis'' and ''Watch Out! ''Old Crows / Young Cardinals'' is the fourth studio album from Canadian post-hardcore band Alexisonfire, released on June 23, 2009. The album was originally referred to by the shortened title of ''Young Cardinals'', until the name change was announced on April 1, 2009. Background Following the release of ''Crisis'', the members kept themselves busy with other projects: vocalist Dallas Green with his other band City and Colour; guitarist Wade McNeil with Black Lungs; and vocalist George Pettit performing with Fucked Up and Bergenfield Four. In October and November 2008, the band toured Europe as part of The Eastpak Antidote Tour. In December, it was revealed that the band would be recording their next album in 2009. ''Rock Sound'' is a British magazine that covers rock music. The magazine aims at being more "underground" and less commercial, while also giving coverage to better-known acts. It generally focuses on pop punk, post-hardcore, metalcore, punk, emo, hardcore, heavy metal and extreme metal genres of rock music, rarely covering indie rock music at all. Dallas Green (musician)
Dallas Michael John Albert Green (born September 29, 1980) is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter and record producer who records under the name City and Colour. He is also known for his contributions as a singer, rhythm guitarist and songwriter for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. In 2005, he debuted his first full-length album, ''Sometimes'', which achieved platinum certification in 2006. City and Colour began performing in small intimate venues between Alexisonfire tours. The name ''City and Colour'' comes from his own name: ''Dallas, Texas, Dallas'', a city, and ''Green'', a colour. His reasoning for the name was that he felt uneasy "putting the album out under the name Dallas Green". Early life Green was born on September 29, 1980 in St. Catharines, Ontario. Wade MacNeil
Wade MacNeil (born May 5, 1984) is a Canadian musician best known as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. He is also the vocalist of the hardcore punk band Gallows, and the vocalist/guitarist/founder of the punk band Black Lungs. MacNeil has featured as a guest vocalist for songs by various other artists, including "St. Andrews" by Bedouin Soundclash, "Deathsmarch" by Cancer Bats (also appearing in the song's video), "Widower" by Johnny Truant, "The Gre(A)t Depression" by Anti-Flag and "She Upon the Black Wolf" by The Banner. ''Watch Out!'' is the second studio album from Canadian post-hardcore band Alexisonfire, released on June 8, 2004. The album debuted at number 6 on the Canadian Albums Chart, selling 6,580 copies in its first week of release, and was certified Platinum (indicating sales of over 100,000 copies) by the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) in 2007. Background and production Alexisonfire released their self-titled debut studio album in October 2002. ''Crisis'' is the third studio album from Canadian post-hardcore band Alexisonfire, released on August 22, 2006. Background and production On June 17, 2005, the band announced that drummer Jesse Ingelevics had been replaced with Jordan Hastings of Jersey. Ingelevics left citing personal reasons, while the rest of the band said they had been growing apart; Hastings had been drumming with the band for a period of time. Recording was held at Metalworks and Silo Recording Studio in February and March 2006, with Julius Butty and the band producing the sessions. Engineer Nick Blagona was assisted by Giancarlo Gallo (who also served as the Pro Tools operator) and Brent Withcomnb; Marco Bressette performed some editing at Silo. Butty, with the aid of Withcomnb mixed the recordings, before they were mastered by Joao Carvalho at Joao Carvalho Mastering later in March 2006. Post-hardcore
Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. It was initially inspired by post-punk and noise rock. Like post-punk, the term has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. Ohsweken, Ontario
Ohsweken () is a dispersed rural community located within the Six Nations of the Grand River, in the County of Brant, Ontario, Canada. Approximately 300 of the 2,700 homes on the reserve are in Ohsweken, and it is the site of the reserve governmental and administrative offices. History From approximately 1840 to 1865, the Six Nations Confederacy council met in a log building near Middleport, Ontario. In 1856, against protests from the Onondaga chiefs, a strong-willed superintendent from the Indian Department, Jasper Tough Gilkison, established a council building in what is present-day Ohsweken, about south-west of Middleport. Gilkison later retired in 1891 under pressure from Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald for incompetence. ''Otherness'' is the fifth studio album by Canadian post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. The album was released on June 24, 2022, thirteen years after the release of their last full-length album, ''Old Crows / Young Cardinals''. It is also their first album since reuniting in 2015. The album takes its name from the first single from the album released, "Sweet Dreams of Otherness", which premiered on YouTube on March 10, 2022. It peaked at No. 4 on the Canadian albums chart. The album won the Juno Award for Rock Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2023.
