Dean Taylor (baseball)
Dean Taylor (born April 19, 1951) is an American former front office executive in Major League Baseball who most recently served as the Vice President of Baseball Operations/Assistant General Manager for the Kansas City Royals. Taylor began his major league front office career in 1981, working as the Administrative Assistant of Minor League Operations for Kansas City. Prior to that, he was a minor league general manager for four years and was named the 1979 Northwest League Executive of the Year while serving as General Manager of the Eugene Emeralds. From 1982 to 1985, he served as Assistant Director of Scouting and Player Development for the Royals, and while in that position he was credited with researching and developing the basis of the Royals successful protest involving the controversial Pine Tar Incident between the Royals and the New York Yankees on July 24, 1983. Brawley, California
Brawley (formerly, Braly) is a city in the Imperial Valley and within Imperial County, southern California, United States. The population was 24,953 at the 2010 census, up from 22,052 in 2000. The town has a significant cattle and feed industry, and hosts the annual Cattle Call Rodeo. Year-round agriculture is an important economic activity in Brawley. Summer daytime temperatures often exceed . History The Imperial Land Company laid out the town in 1902 and named it Braly in honor of J.H. Braly, who owned the land. After Braly refused to permit the use of his name, the name was changed to Brawley. The first post office at Brawley opened in 1903. Incorporated in 1908, it was a "tent city" of only 100 persons involved in railroads and the earliest introduction of agriculture. Robert Douglas Melvin (born August 8, 1952) is a Canadian front-office executive in Major League Baseball (MLB) who previously served as the general manager of the Texas Rangers (1995–2001) and Milwaukee Brewers (2002–2015). He is currently a senior advisor for the Brewers. Baseball career 1972–2002 A former minor-league pitcher who played in the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees farm systems from 1972–78, Melvin began his front office career with the Yankees as an assistant scouting director, then spent nearly a decade (1987–94) as assistant general manager and director of player development of the Baltimore Orioles.
