Deadline (2012 Film)
''Deadline'' is a 2012 American mystery drama film directed by Curt Hahn. The screenplay was written by former '' Charlotte Observer'' managing editor Mark Ethridge, basing it upon his novel ''Grievances'', which was inspired by actual events. The film stars Steve Talley and Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts. Synopsis ''Deadline'' is the story of the murder of an African American youth in rural Alabama that has gone uninvestigated, unsolved, and unpunished for almost twenty years. That changes when ''Nashville Times'' reporter Matt Harper (Steve Talley) meets an idealistic young blueblood bent on discovering the truth. Harper undertakes the investigation despite the opposition of his publisher, violent threats from mysterious forces, a break-up with his fiancée, and his father's cancer diagnosis. Curt Hahn
Curt Hahn (born April 21, 1949) is a filmmaker and entrepreneur best known for his feature films No Regrets (2004) and Deadline (2012). Hahn is a pioneer of intelligent independent filmmaking who works outside the Hollywood studio system. Hahn grew up in New England and discovered architecture at Phillips Exeter Academy, enrolling in architecture school at Washington University in St. Louis. Filmmaking was his other passion and in 1970 he attended UCLA's summer session in film production. He never went back to architecture school, staying in Los Angeles to attend film school at the new Disney-endowed California Institute of the Arts. After getting his BFA in Film from Cal Arts in 1972 he worked as director of the film department for WTVI-TV, a PBS station, and as a director for Walter J. D'Army Bailey
D'Army Bailey (November 29, 1941 – July 12, 2015) was an American lawyer, circuit court judge, civil rights activist, author, and film actor. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, he served as a city councilman in Berkeley, California, from 1971-73. Bailey was the founder of the National Civil Rights Museum which opened in 1991 at Memphis’s Lorraine Motel, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was slain in 1968. His 1993 book, ''Mine Eyes Have Seen: Dr. Martin Luther King’s Final Journey'', focused on that period. A second book, ''The Education of a Black Radical'', published in October 2009 by LSU Press, recalls Bailey's own history in the civil rights movement. Clay is a type of fine-grained natural soil material containing clay minerals (hydrous aluminium phyllosilicates, e.g. kaolin, Al2 Si2 O5( OH)4).
