La Vela Puerca is a Uruguayan rock band formed in Montevideo, Uruguay, in December 1995. Its founders and current members are Sebastián Teysera (lead vocals, frontman and main songwriter), Sebastián Cebreiro (vocals, songwriter), Nicolás Lieutier (bass guitar), Rafael Di Bello (guitar), Carlos Quijano (saxo alto) and Santiago Butler (guitar). The band's first appearance under the name ''La Vela Puerca'' was at a street party in Montevideo on December 24, 1995. Since then, several new members have joined. History Beginnings In 1996, frontman Sebastián Teysera entered a demo tape in a band contest. The rest of the band was not aware of this until they found out they were listed among the twenty finalists. It was only a month later that they received a phone call informing them of their success. León Gieco
Raúl Alberto Antonio Gieco, better known as León Gieco (born on November 20, 1951 in Cañada Rosquín, Argentina) is an Argentine folk rock performer, composer and interpreter. He is known for mixing popular folkloric genres with Argentinian rock and roll, and lyrics with social and political connotations. This has led to him being called "The Argentine Bob Dylan". Biography Leon Gieco was born into a family of Italian origin on November 20, 1951 in Santa Fe Province, Argentina. At 6 years old, Gieco traveled with his family from the field to the village center due to economic problems. At age 8, Gieco bought his first guitar on credit, and soon began playing music at local events with his father's band. Aníbal Kerpel
Aníbal Kerpel is an Argentine producer, engineer an mixer. Member of the progressive rock band Crucis, he began a successful career as a producer after the split of the band, working with artists such as Los Prisioneros, Café Tacvba, Divididos, Molotov, Gustavo Santaolalla, Bersuit Vergarabat, Juanes and Árbol, among others. During his career he has received a Grammy Award and over ten Latin Grammy Awards. Career Kerpel was one of the members of the progressive rock band Crucis, playing the keyboards.
