Albert DeSalvo
Albert Henry DeSalvo (September 3, 1931 – November 25, 1973) was an American rapist and suspected serial killer in Boston, Massachusetts, who purportedly confessed to being the "Boston Strangler," the murderer of thirteen women in the Boston area from 1962 to 1964. In 1967, DeSalvo was imprisoned for life for committing a series of rapes. However, his murder confession has been disputed and debate continues as to which crimes he actually committed. In 1968, a film about the murders, ''The Boston Strangler,'' was released, with DeSalvo being portrayed by Tony Curtis. In July 2013, DNA was matched between seminal fluid found at the rape and murder of Mary Sullivan and DNA obtained from DeSalvo's nephew, linking DeSalvo to the murder of Sullivan and excluding 99.9% of the remaining population. Karen Bollinger DeSalvo (born August 4, 1966) is an American business executive, physician and public health expert. She has been Google’s chief health officer since 2019. Louise A. DeSalvo (September 27, 1942 – October 31, 2018) was an American writer, editor, professor, and lecturer who lived in New Jersey. Much of her work focused on Italian-American culture, though she was also a renowned Virginia Woolf scholar. DeSalvo taught memoir writing as a part of CUNY Hunter College's MFA Program in Creative Writing, published over 17 books, and was a Virginia Woolf scholar. She edited editions of Woolf's first novel ''Melymbrosia'', as well as ''The Letters of Vita Sackville-West and Virginia Woolf'', which documents the controversial lesbian affair between these two novelists. In addition, she wrote two books on Woolf, ''Virginia Woolf: The Impact of Childhood Sexual Abuse on Her Life and Work'' and ''Virginia Woolf's First Voyage: A Novel in the Making''. Charlie DeSalvo is a fictional character from '' Highlander: The Series'', portrayed by actor Philip Akin. A martial artist and former Navy SEAL, he works with and befriends the series protagonist Duncan MacLeod, an immortal swordsman from the Scottish Highlands.
