Dayton Area Rugby Club
Dayton Area Rugby Club is a rugby union football club based in Dayton, Ohio, United States. The club currently fields Men's teams in Midwest Divisions III & IV and a Women's team in the Midwest Division II. They play their home games at Dayton Rugby Grounds. As well as a number of players also coaching at various levels, there are also a few club members who have gone on to continue their involvement in the sport by becoming referees. History Men's Squad Rugby first came to Dayton, Ohio in the fall of 1969 when a group of University of Dayton students, led by Bob Borgerding, played their first rugby match. The University of Dayton continues to play rugby to this day, fielding both a Men's and a Women's squad. Club rugby came onto the scene in 1973 with the founding of the Dayton Triangles RFC, named for the first champion of the National Football League, the Dayton Triangles. Dayton Rugby Grounds
Dayton Rugby Grounds (DRG) is 12.5 acres rugby facility in north Dayton adjacent to Shiloh Park. DRG has two full sized pitches, changing rooms, bathrooms, concessions and a maintenance building Dayton rugby teams have dreamed of a home for rugby since 1975. It was discussed and considered for many years and during the “Great Recession” of the late 2000s a movement towards land purchase began as land price dropped in Dayton. The Property Committee visited over 20 possible sites of the thousands they had looked at on the internet. One of the sites was Riverdale Baseball Park. In early January 2011 a presentation by the property committee lead Dayton Area Rugby Club, DARC to vote to donate the money to purchase DRG. DRG is now the home for Rugby football, rugby in the Dayton area. Carillon Historical Park
Carillon Historical Park is a 65-acre (26.3 ha) park and museum in Dayton, Ohio, which contains historic buildings and exhibits concerning the history of technology and the history of Dayton and its residents from 1796 to the present. As a part of the University of Dayton, the historical elements of the park were the brainchild of Colonel Edward Deeds. The major sections include settlement, transportation, invention, and industry. The park also contains the Carillon Park Railroad, a gauge miniature railway. In 2005, Carillon Historical Park merged with the Montgomery County Historical Society to form Dayton History.
